we aren't gonna pay a goalie nearly 2 million to play 15 games, nor are we gonna trade our young 3c for another goalie

We don't need an Ellis replacement though. Its the start of a rebuild so trading picks for vets has no real benefits.

Edmonton hasn't been looking for depth, they've been looking for a starter. And they've found one.

In any case, your ask is ridiculous. They could sign a 3rd string goalie for $900k if they wanted one, but they've already got Rodrigue and Pickard in the minors so they don't need another goalie.
