Hard to argue Seattle would want to upgrade Borgen. They re-signed him. He proved to be a capable #4 d last year and I'm sure the hope is for him to keep growing.

As for the goalies, I still think the backup spot is for him to lose. It was an unfortunate injury that cost him his role and time last year. I'm still not convinced Daccord is the true back up at the NHL level.

I thought Borgen was pretty solid no?

If anything they might need an upgrade on Dumolin but he might be fine in a 3rd pair role.

Seattle gave Borgen a chance at a full-time NHL job last season and he rewarded their faith by establishing himself as a solid second pairing RHD for them. I think if the Kraken upgrade their defense it'll be at the expense of Dumoulin and/or Schultz, not Borgen.

There's a chance the Kraken could end up looking to shore up their goaltending behind Grubauer, but that's not something that would happen until midseason. For now Daccord and Driedger will battle for the backup spot. I think Daccord has the inside track on that and could surprise people.

    Rather just keep Borgen.

I get wanting to roll the dice on the backups for now, the available options arent good. But I could see this being an issue in November. Hopefully something shakes loose during the first set of waivers in early october.
