No. They have no money to sign him and don’t wanna go over the cap. They’re looking to move money before they sign him

We’ll see if he’s a career backup , he’s dealt with injury the last while and got surgery. Him and Forsberg both can be .910 goalies easy

He's been inconsistent as hell. One season being a serviceable 1B, the next, being a piece of swiss cheese. He's never really shown he can be an actual 1A aside form a very short sample size on a good defensive LAK team (his playoff stats were brutal).

I'm sure it'll work out. I mean, guys like Campbell, Petersen, and Grubauer worked out.... right?

Sens only need average to slightly above average goaltending to make the playoffs

Sharks decline easily, that’s 2nd is likely to be a 1st (triggered if NJD make ECF).
that said I wouldn’t likely pay a 4th for Brannstrom, he’s a decent 2nd pairing guy but is a 4/5th D at best, and sharks have like 5 of those! What we need is legit top 4 D.

I honestly believe the only reason Pinto hasn't been signed would be that Dorion has been told "full-stop" until Andlauer takes over - my guess is his position is as good as gone

We'll see what Mike Grier does then.

I'm really hoping Dorion had a plan on what to do next before he gave Tarasenko 5 million.

Instead of just "winging it".

Possibly planning a move to get an injured player so they can play the LTIR opening day roster cap game?

Probably also waiting for NHL action on Hockey Canada Scandal so they know where they stand. (Status of Formenton/Batherson?)

All decisions "officially" go to the board, then Bill Daly, then Andlauer, per Daly's comments on the situation. So, GMPD can't make decisions that Andlauer doesn't really agree with. I say "officiallly", cause GMPD likely talks to him directly. He was in town for dev camp and they were chatty at the arena.

The signings, trades, firings (Trent Mann), keeping the coaching staff, that GMPD has done so far don't indicate someone who's going to be fired as soon as Andlauer takes over.

Either Sens are holding off to make room, or Pinto wants $, or both. His QO, the minimum they can offer him per CBA, is over 900k. They have 890k or so in cap. So, no matter what is the amount, they need to clear some space, unless they send down a forward and run 11/7 until an injury.

To those saying he's holding out due to greed, players shouldn't play for less than what they are willing to accept. They put their bodies and health on the line, and it's a business. If they blow out their shoulder, their knee, whatever, their career may be in jeopardy. Teams rarely show loyalty if you aren't useful anymore, so why should the players?

Or a past star like Tarasenko (of course I’m hoping he’s still has a good season in him but if he doesn’t produce good numbers he’s useless)

I was upset with this signing at first but it could actually work out. I didn’t think his hip surgery was that recent. He has only played one season since and was excellent so we’ll see. As a goalie, I can tell you surgeries are quite important in sports

Who do the sharks have as good as Brannstrom?

I can understand not wanting to spend assets now but who?

Let’s be honest, Dorion doesn’t have a plan, he goes « name recognition » and that’s about it

An undersized left shot D, which San Jose already has like 12 of, for a possible 1st round pick is egregious.

1. Rasmus Sandin is also an undersized left shot D.

He was traded for the #28 overall pick in the 2023 draft.

The pick in this trade can be no higher than #29 overall in the 2024 draft.

It's not egregious.

2. Who's replacing EK65 on San Jose's powerplay ?

3. Which defensemen will be San Jose's top 4 for next season ?

I’m not convinced Brannstrom is any better fit than Thurn, Knyzhov or Ferraro. The team is still incredibly bad with Brannstrom it’s not like he adds so much to the blue line. The whole point of a rebuild is to ship players out, get picks and build from there. It’s not to get picks and then use those picks on guys you already have in the system. They don’t have enough spots for the D they already have let alone add another.

Sandin to me has been much more consistent than Brannstrom, also Washington is forced to spend picks on players to stay competitive. San Jose isn’t in that position. Just doesn’t make sense to me at all

I don't think so. I don't think that helps the Sharks as much as a potential 1st would. He's intent on restocking prospects.
