Don't know why the Caps would do that for one year of Nylander. A massive overpay for Konecky. Sanheim for eight years is a negative value.
But appreciate the Canucks blockbuster.

If the 1st is protected and Nylander is extended, then Caps might do that.

Why?
Klingbergs contract kinda sucks but you could still get a 2nd round pick plus at the dead like. Niemela is worth a 1st+. Trade then becomes Lapierre, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, plus likely more. Sandhiem’s trade value is negative, and like really negative, 8 year terrible contract.

No Niemela isn’t. Klingberg dump is worth a 2nd. Briere wants a 1st for Sanehim and two 1sts and two good prospects for TK.

So the deal is:
Klingberg and 2nd for Future Considerations
1st for Sanheim
Lapierre, Niemela, 2nd for TK

Briere doesn’t accept that for Tk so they would decline the deal.

His name is right there....... I don't understand how so many people can't spell this guy's name correctly.

Sanheim wants to be a Flyer so I don't think he's waiving that NMC.

Nylander is a rental. Drop one of Lapierre or McM and one of the 2nds and that's the proper price of a top rental.

The fact they are dumping Mantha means they are likely choosing to resign him

Briere is overpricing everyone & no one is paying a 1st for a 6’3 LD that lost a fight to Nathan Gerbe🤣🤣

He's a rental at the time of the trade, a possible extension signed after the trade doesn't affect his value.

Let’s be real, nobody is taking Sanheim for anything. And Briere doesn’t want to trade TK. But he’s not going to get bent over to give away both.

Nylander costs over a million more than Mantha and the Caps don't have a million in cap space. Mantha (and more) would have to go simply to fit Nylander in for a single year, and the Caps would struggle to resign him. Giving up 2 of your better prospects and multiple future picks for that type of player is a big no from DC.
