The retention spot is a concern since fans believe they'd get good value for Monahan retained at the trade deadline. His contract is already pretty low but I get it. I doubt they'd get a first for him tho

You really are overpaying aren't you?! The retention slot is a concern as we would like to keep one open for the TDL but yeah we would be stupid to pass that deal up. Now realistically, no one is paying more than a 3rd for DeSmith even with retention. In fact you can probably get him off waivers if you wait long enough.

A 1st?! If he was worth a 1st you think Dubas would have thrown him into the Petry/Hoffman swap as a cap dump?

He's a fine goalie... But he's worth a 4th at most. A 3rd with retention.
