MIN says heck no to that trade. They will have 23m in cap space next season with half of their roster becoming UFAs and 14.7m in buyout cap space taken. Nylander will probably be asking for 9-10m which will be half of their cap space leaving them 10-13m to get another top 6 winger and a real #1 center since Joel Eriksson Ek is not a true #1.

Not much consideration for Minni's cap. Minni would say no for one year of Nylander anyway.

Don't see any reason for Detroit to do that trade. I personally like Viro so I'm even more against it.

Minnesota’s current top line center, top pair left defense (not 1st pair quality, but he plays it), one of our better prospects AND a 1st. Toronto steals two of Minnesota’s bargain contracts and more for someone Minnesota can’t afford and don’t need positionally speaking.

Wow, I just thought they were cheap depth pieces. The core of this trade for the Leafs is the prospect and the 1st.

We need cheap depth pieces to play important roles. If we had cap space, Nylander would be someone we pursue in free agency.
