Where can Korchinski play

Created by: Jco5ta5

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just out of curiosity, I know we often hear and talk about players who are "too good" for CHL but not good enough for NHL (eg: Shane Wright) but also don't qualify for AHL. Do these players qualify for the European leagues at all? Could Korchinski play in the DEL, SHL? If they're under contract with NHL team they can be loaned to a European club. Just a thought. I figured someone would know.

I'd keep him in Seattle. Don't mess too much with his development. If you give him a 9 game stint...fine, but send him back for sure.

Pretty sure a player has to be property of a European team in order to be loaned back to that team. Korchinski has never been drafted or signed by any European team that I'm aware of. As @exo2769 says, best bet is to send him back to Seattle. If its after 9 NHL games, that's fine. Korchinski's offensive game may be too good for the WHL. But his defensive game still needs work. Pretty sure Hawks fans will see this in the preseason games he plays in.

100% agree.

He should at most get his 9 game stint in the NHL, go back to Seattle, dominate the WHL, work on his defensive game, play 25 - 30 mins a game, don’t just make Canada’s world junior team this season but lead it, be the # 1 guy. Lead Seattle back to the Memorial Cup or perhaps a different team if traded.

He can play two weeks for AHL and 9 games or less for NHL and still preserve his slide year. Once the junior playoffs end, he can also join the AHL team.

The CHL rule is beyond silly…one of my least favorite things in all of hockey.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I agree to keep him in WHL one more year. I'd love for him to be in AHL but here we are. Putting him in NHL beyond 9 games would be against everything Davidson and Co have been saying which is to let these kids get ripe in other leagues. Unless of course he's the next coming of Makar then sure, keep him in NHL. Sticking Out Tongue

The CHL rule is great……….for the CHL. It’s terrible for the AHL & teams that want their prospects to play against grown men. I guess hockey Canada has too much pull.
