I can guarantee Kane will not go from making 10.5 mil one year to under 1 mil the next. I even think he'll take a little less than he is worth to play for the right contender but if a gm asked him to take over 90% less than what he made a year ago he'll be insulted.

Why would the Red Wings do that?

I think a better question is where was this before we signed Holl. But you are right we don't need any more defenseman!!!!

Sp far this offseason Detroit has extended Walman for 3 seasons and Maatta for 2 seasons and acquired Gostisbehere, Holl and Petry.

Let's be realistic at $800K every team could easily afford him and he'd already be signed. Someone will offer him more than $800K

Kane will decide where he wants to go no matter what. and his motivation will be to win a cup.

Since he is not going to sign until he's healthy. Nothing stopping him from negating 2 deals. 1 to be signed at the NHL minimum for 1 year on the last day to sign a player (correct me if im wrong but I think its Dec 1st?) the 2nd to be signed on January 1st for a multi year deal.

Exactly the reason, why he will wait and choose team that he thinks have a shot at Cup. Then he signs with them, for amount they can afford - given all cap dumps, LITR money etc.

I mean the NYR got Quick and Wheeler to sign for cheap, so it’s not impossible for Kane to sign cheap

Plus there’s no playoff contender out there that has the cap for the amount he wants to make

He knows he’s not going to be back by what Christmas? So he’s waiting to see whos got the best shot this season, is it NYR? Leafs? Hows Buffalo doing? Maybe the Aves or Tampa? Why sign now? If you don’t have too? Not like you can play anyways

Well he turns 35 end of november, so he could get the 35+ bonus contract. But I feel like he’ll stay in NY. So NYR or Buffalo

You saying you got him in your contacts list? He will have plenty of suitors for his services, he won’t need to take any low ball offers.

This is an overpay on Kane, but I would still do it.

Hahahahaha
