Finished Hurricanes

Team: 2023-24 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2023
Published: Sep. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is as close as it comes to a cup, it's with out question cup or bust, the team might need some scoring depth at the deadline but they can win a lot of games with the style they play. If this was any other team, I wouldn't trade Pesce, but the Hurricanes don't want to lose that good of a player for nothing, even in Win Now Mode. I feel the trade is pretty fair for both sides, if the extension doesn't come with the trade then the first likely becomes a conditional second that becomes a first if they sign him.

Would likely be a much better prospect than Arcuri

I'd say it's about right, considering Dallas won't want to trade their NHL ready level prospects, Arcuri is in that next tier, maybe Kyrou instead lol

Pesce is underrated. I def don’t think he’s worth Harley and a first like most Canes fans think he is, but with an extension (I heard he’s looking for a decent amount more money than that) I don’t think a first and one of Kyrou/Bourque is unreasonable. I’d prefer they took a salary tho. Marchment or Hakanpaa and Faksa. Which might be the deal breaker tbh

If they won't trade NHL ready prospects, Pesce isn't going to Dallas.

This doesn't look too bad value-wise for Carolina -- it's a better return than they got for Faulk -- but I don't think Carolina wants to trade Pesce for futures. Their goal is to win the cup this year, so any trade they make would have to make the team better now. They're not afraid to go through the season with half of their defense pending UFAs, so I think they do this only if it's to clear cap space for another deal to bring in somebody at a position they need more.

If Pesce would sign for 5 x 6, the Canes would sign him

I can't see Marchment going, I'd say they'd want to see if he bounces back a bit more before they move him, Hakanpaa makes alot of sense to go, but yeah, I'll give you Kyrou for sure, sounds about right, Bourque still has more value that they wanna see in the NHL first.

Dallas accepts but we will need some time to unload salary elsewhere.

I agree with some of the points your making. I get not wanting to let him walk for nothing, but if this is the return, I'd rather let him walk for nothing. I'd rather have a better chance at a cup with Pesce on the roster than a worse d core and a some meh futures.

If i were in the canes position, i wouldn't trade Pesce unless a team grossly overpaid for him.

I could see them wanting that first tho, so they can flip it for another asset, maybe more scoring, I agree with what you're saying tho, I wouldn't trade him, I only did cuz it seems like the most likely scenario.

Marchment should do better with Duchene. Faksa should do better with whatever combo of Steel, Delly, and Smith he plays with. That said, an upgrade on the back end is needed. Faksa makes the most sense as Steel, Delly, and Smith is probably a better line than any of the combinations with Faksa. I don’t see Carolina being willing to take him tho. I like where we’re at right now. Makes sense to wait and see what Harley and Nils do. Makes sense to hold onto the top prospects.
