If this is your team, send down Jones, Holmberg, Gambrell and Benoit. That would give you just over 2.96M in cap space to trade for a better d-man. Just a suggestion. Your forward lines need a major adjustment.

Zegras is going to be as good or better than Nylander, he matched or beat Nylander production their first three seasons.

Zegras is still under team control

Zegras is younger

Zegras plays center

All of.thosr things alone make him more valuable than Nylander. Toronto has to add, and handsomely.

I didn't say he wasn't, today, I'm saying that Z is going to be as good or better when he hits his prime.

Add to that everything I said above, and Toronto having zero leverage as Nylander is a pending UFA, and in order to get the Ducks to bite on the trade, Toronto adds heavily.

Team control adds value
Centers are more valuable than wingers
Youth adds value
Lower cap hit adds value
Leverage sways value

Toronto and Nylander are on the loosing end of ALL of those value changes.

If the front office deems Nylander worth signing to an extension, we can wait to sign that extension in July 2024. The Ducks will be a far more appealing team to sign with and play for then than now.

Did you not notice he didn’t quote anyone? It’s more likely that was directed at the ACGM expecting to land Z for a pending UFA asking $10M+. Just an FYI, but that would leave you alone on an island with like 5 people on the other side
