No, MTL wouldn’t consider because we wouldn’t target Korchinski
Maybe Oliver Moore + Lukas Reichel + I don’t even know, but at least Moore + Reichel would be the foundation for a trade

Hawks don't make this trade. Can't see them trading Korchinski after what they went through to get him.

Hawks won't consider it and they shouldn't. Hawks are taking their time with the rebuild. They don't want to ruin it by trading away future foundational pieces. Let's pretend those future foundational pieces don't work out...then that would mean the Hawks haven't gotten any better and will need to have the better picks in the 1st. Caufield is a nice piece. He is. He's not altering the direction of the Hawks organization.

This is kinda what I was thinking, it seems like neither side would want to do it.

Hawks would rather just see what they have with their young guys at this point

Guys it’s not happening
He just wants to know what would be fair
MTL aren’t trading Caufield either who just signed an eight years deal

The most decorated franchise in league history says no. Caufield isn't available, and a left-shot defender isn't worth trading a rare breed for.

It's also not wise for Chicago to do that. They have to pile up those prospects and not trade them for older playes.

No I get it, but you asked and we answered. Plus, they had Debrincat...who SOMEHOW actually costs LESS than Caufield.

CHI has nothing other than that 2024 1st that entices MTL for CC22. Don't start with Bedard, everyone knows the answer to that

AHHH!!! the ole' half of 1 season defines an entire career trick! I bet you also thought Ryan Poehling was going to score at least 150 goals after that 1 game he had.

You should be really happy to have gotten a 7th OA for a "pure sniper" that is unable to score 30 goals on a decent team

That "Pure Sniper" had over 100 hits and received a greater Dzone% than Caufield in his half a season. Let's have him play 1 full season. Then we chat again.

Also had Chabot, Sanderson, Zub, and for some part of the season, Chychrun. Gotta admit they have a really solid team. But Caufield is just better, not just in proportion to his team, but in general. Love the defense, but a top 6 forward is there to put the puck in the back of the net. Sure, he got assists, but was playing pp with a team that has Stuzle and B. Tkachuk, 2 90-point guys. Do I need to remind you that Cole is 3 years younger?

Feels like a lot for Chicago to pay given where they are in a rebuild.

It also doesn't really consider Montreal's young players/prospects.

-Reichel is very nice as the main piece coming back, but I'm not sure him alone convinces Montreal to trade Caufield
-Kurashev does almost nothing for Montreal and I doubt they'd value him all that much, they don't even have a clear spot to play him considering the young guys they already have
-Korchinski is one of the top D prospects outside of the NHL, but Montreal isn't really shopping for D prospects as they already has a strong and deep stable of young D prospects/NHLers headed by Reinbacher, Guhle and Hutson

Bedard for Caufield and maybe Chicago adds a bit to get it done.
