Who trades a #1C for a 2nd round pick? And why in the world would Power accept such a low-ball offer?

Mittelstadt is NOT a 1C

And $7mil per isn’t what I’d call a “low ball” offer

He was the Sabres #1C at the end of the season and out-performed Tage there...

$7mm is certainly a lowball offer. Power is going to wait until Dahlin signs and then Power will see how much #1 overall draft picks get paid. And as the salary cap goes up, so do contracts.

Don't think the Sabres would trade Mitts for 2nd and probably a later pick in the 2nd to. Mitts for Borgen

Well he actually did at the end, Tage was hurt the last 10 games of the year though. Missed 4 and played with a Hip Pointer the other 6. Think Mitts finished those last 10 games with like 15 or 16pts, Tage had 4 or 5 I believe.

So let me get this straight, you're trading a top prospect in Peyton Krebs, who was the main piece in the Eichel trade, to Boston, for Brandon Carlo? I don't see the Sabers benefiting from this at all.

Cool, I guess Ville Leino was a 60 point player for us because he once had 6 points in 8 games.

Marcus foligno must be a hall of famer because his 2011-12 stretch makes him a 76 point player.

I like Casey and he's a good player who has fought his way thru adversity to become a valuable player.

But don't be ridiculous

I provided stats to back it up. I'll also add that Mitts did that with a 55 OZ faceoff%, compared to Tage's 64%.

I'm being very realistic.

In the final 41 games of the season:
Eichel 34pts
Aho 34pts
Mitts 34pts

I can keep providing actual data...

I guess we should retire #37 then and get ahead of it. 11 game samples are for sure sustainable.

SEA takes that deal and runs. A 2nd for Mittelstadt is a steal, and I think Francis would be dumb to turn away

While I agree with you that the Sabres would be foolish to send Mitts away for a 2nd round pick, I think it’s a little premature to call Mitts a 1C. That sample size is for 11 games, which isn’t statistically significant enough to show that is repeatable. Mitts also has had the tendency to heat up towards the end of his seasons (though this also has too low sample size). If you take out those 11 games, Mitts had 42 points in 71 games, which isn’t 1C material. Right now, he produces like a good 2C and I think that is what is fair to call him. Maybe he continues his late season play, but until he does, he’s not a 1C yet.

Congrats on being Habs fan level crazy

Was UPL a Vezina level goalie bc he had that stretch where he went 10-2 ???

He's a younger cheaper version of Connor Clifton, there numbers are pretty close. One is skating at TC with Rasmus Dahlin.

I’m not saying he sucks,
but Borgen is a 3rd pair quality defenseman
(U could argue Clifton is as well)

Mitts is worth much more than a 3rd pair guy
A 3rd pair defenseman should be able to be acquired at a lesser cost, something like a 3rd & 5th maybe, if even that much
Giving up a young developing Center like Mitts for him would be nuts
