3C as a rookie. You don’t trade a guy before he breaks out

Ottawa would have better usage to move Pinto than include him in the cap dump. They only need to dump Joseph for the money to sign Pinto so including Pinto in the deal, they don't have any reason to move Joseph. I think it's probably going to come down in the Tyler Boucher or 2nd round pick range for Joseph. I personally would make the trade for a mid round pick since he's an excellent penalty killer and the Flyers have enough cap room to make the deal work logistically, even if it's not a huge loss incurred to Ottawa.

Yup zero interest in that

But it's not only that, it's fact that Joseph and Pinto are traded together in this scenario

The ONLY reason why Ottawa would consider moving Joseph is to get compliant to sign Pinto.

Them in the same trade doesn't make any sense unless they'd want Greig to be the 3rd line center (might need a full NHL season before giving him that role though) and would get a top winger in return, but even then, they don't need another Top-9 winger. They're set at every position. If they move Joseph, they would actually need to get the exact same player back.

I wonder if they could trade Joseph to 2 teams then get him back but with half retention each time, a 2nd to one team, a 3rd to the second one (who would retain less). It must be illegal lol

What a stupid retort, a guy that got derailed by injuries.

I mean if Dorion wants to offer it I'll gladly take Pinto and Joseph. Sure Joseph is overpaid but he's serviceable and Pinto is middle six as of now but could become top 6. All that for a mid prospect, a bottom sixer, and a 2nd two years from now is nothing.

This will never happen though, since as you said the whole poont in moving Joseph or potentially Kubalik is for cap space to sign Pinto.
