New centers

Created by: NHLfan10506
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 30, 2023
Published: Sep. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Thomas: He is unlikely to be available, but chose him since I haven’t seen him in many ACGMs. If STL did have another down season in 2023-24, and wanted to start eyeing a group of players around the same age as Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Neighbors, Dean, etc….I’d wonder what a Thomas deal would look like. Also, Blues clear a little cap in moving Leddy.

Danault: This is probably not the first version of a Danault for Swayman type of move. Now that LAK has added Dubois and has big hole in net, it seemed like a natural fit.

Granlund: As a top-6 center with term on $5m deal, he probably isn’t all that appealing. But as a $2.5m rental to play 3C, he could be. Sharks get a couple of young Dmen that project well. And a pick for eating $2.5m (that could go to third party if San Jose wants to hold their last retention spot).

Dowd: Another rental, but one of the best 4C in hockey. Most teams would just keep Beecher and play him there, but if Boston is still “win now” it could make sense. But probably a bit of an overpay.

The whole point of LA trading for Dubois was to have Danault as the 3c for the eventual matchups with Edmonton and/or Vegas in the playoffs.

so you want the Bruins to replace a cheap 3c with a more expensive 3c, then add our future starting goalie for nothing? That's a terrible trade for Boston. We also already have a 3c making over 5m per and it's coming back to haunt us. Nothing of interest in Portillo or Grundstrom either.
If we were to deplete the only positive prospect assets to aquire some Centers, i'm sure we can call Buffalo on Krebs/Mitts for cheaper than this.
Granlund can be had in FA next year when the Sharks should have no interest in re-signing him (but again, zero need for him) and bad asset management
Beecher by next year should be the same player as Dowd just 10 years younger

Blues aren't trading Thomas and no thanks for the other 3.

Would still have Kopitar/Dubois at top. But would change 3C from Danault to one of Geekie, Byfield, Turcotte, Lizotte and 1G from Talbot to Swayman.

Seems like a worthwhile exchange.

I like Thonas, should have drafted him instead of Urho.

But that is a horrible trade for Boston.

So are the rest.

Blues aren’t trading Thomas. If they were to, Boston doesn’t have the correct pieces.

The Kings will roll with the goalies they have this season and use the money from not extending Arvy to sign a starter.

Lolololol the blues are not trading Thomas at all. Not really interested in Lohrei, Lysell, Poitras as pieces back for Thomas. Needs to be a premium piece coming back if we are trading Thomas and Boston doesn't have those in prospects or younger players they want to trade

So far less than zero chance they need to invent a new mathematical term. Like the opposite of googol. The nega-googol or something.
