Lassi Waived

Created by: exo2769
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 30, 2023
Published: Sep. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We don't have any RD prospects ready for NHL ice time for the next few years. Why not claim Lassi from Waivers? Giving him a chance is better than playing Zaitsev. OTT fans can agree with that too!

Makes sense as long as the plan is to send KK back to juniors. I don't think they're want 4/6 D to be young/inexperienced but 3 is fine. Problem is i'm not so sure KK is going back to juniors plus Kaiser and Vlasic are locks

I'd send KK back. I'd personally rather let someone mature a bit longer and not make the same mistakes Bowman did with Boqvist/Dach. The Seattle Thunderbirds had (5) NHL 1st round picks, and (going from memory here) 7 other NHL drafted players on that team. Multiple 2nds/3rds in that mix too. Have him go back develop his 2 way game. Have him play for team Canada. Let's not rush this.

Agreed with Vlasic/Kaiser. That's why I have them 1/2 on the left.

Maybe. Problem is he's probably right in between being too good for juniors and not ready for the NHL. I could for sure see them keeping him in Chicago and managing how many games he plays. Play him half the games or something and burn the ELC year. Hawks have proven before they want to burn these ELC years on other guys so i'd imagine KK is the same

I'm not going to be mad if they play it that way. I just think players develop maturity both physically and mentally when they start to be relied upon as the guy to make things happen. I'm not trying to put unwarranted pressure on KK, but with the number of guys leaving Seattle...he'll need to step up and be the leader. Not just 1 of 5 NHL 1st rounders. Guenther/Lambert likely won't be back...probably not Dach either.

Dach should be back, don't think he's making the hawks. Lambos will still be there too and I don't think Lambert is making WPG

Dach and Allan aged out of junior and are definitely playing in the AHL this year. Not sure about Guenther and Lambert, though. Either way, I completely agree that KK should go back. Also, I would be ALL FOR claiming Lassi Thomson! Zaitsev can sit in the box or get waived for all I care.

Agree 100% with your take. This makes too much sense for the Hawks. It's a no brainer to me. Low risk/high reward move.

Can't see Thomson not being claimed by the Hawks or Sharks but if there's one moment in the year good young players might not get claimed on waivers, it's now. I'm still pretty sure he'll get claimed

Anyway, we're kinda used to it in Ottawa, we have been BLEEDING assets ever since the 2020-21 season, despite not making the playoffs for 3 years

There's still people who think our GM is good lol
