Seeing all these teams fighting each other for Sens 9th D (at best) and another AHL tweener... Sens must be stacked

He's only 23 and he is a righty. There aren't a whole lot of good RHDs so getting one with out giving up any assets and if he doesn't work out you aren't losing any thing. I wouldn't mind Detroit taking a shot at him but I doubt he makes it past the first 5 teams.

In Ottawa's system he's a AHL tweener. If Ottawa didn't trade for Chychrun and sign Hamonic that would make JBD more valuable to Otttawa.

The fact that Sens traded for Chychrun and signed Hamonic should tell you all you need.

I was a fan of JBD, but after 5 years of dev, he got outplayed by a 7th Rd pick.

I hope he figures it out eventually

Both get claimed by Anaheim and Lassi gets tossed back out to sea. Sokolov has until Killorn comes off IR to prove he should stick around.

After putting in the claim on Thomson, I think Anaheim moves to the end of the waiver claim order. I don't think teams hold their position once they actually claim a guy off waivers.

JBD doesn't make it as far as Edmonton. Some team early in the waiver claim order will grab him up. Sokolov might make it to the Oilers. His skating is pretty bad and he's not good defensively.

Yeah no chance he makes it past the top-5 teams in the picking order

I think a lot of Sens fans are trying to "cope" with Dorion ultra-terrible mismanagement (which I will explain in the 2nd quote) but this shouldn't have happened. Choose between Thomson and JBD, but both? lol

Since I am more facts oriented, this is what I found on JBD the other day :

From 2020-21 to 2022-23, JBD only played 32 NHL games but among the 22 Sens D-men who played on the team, he ranks 4th best xGA/60 (only Kleven, Heatherington and Reilly were higher, also small sample sizes) and the 2nd best GA/60 (only Larsson had a better one but only 8 games). There's literally 1 more goal allowed per 60 when Hamonic is on the ice (2.13 vs 3.13). And you have to note that JBD was 20 to 22 y/o during that time, not even fully NHL ready

So this is the only stat that matters for JBD, GA and xGA

That doesn't mean that he is great or anything but a boring "safe" kind of guy could be useful to have as a 6th/7th, instead of a continuous adventure like Hamonic or a totally unproven guy like Guenette. Poor Brannstrom that will have to carry Hamonic all year. It's the 3rd pair but he's not as good as Sanderson. It will bring down Brannstrom's game and trade value. So likely another asset that will be pissed away

Hamonic shouldn't be here. Thomson and JBD are both better with only way to go but up. It's the opposite for Hamonic who actually would give the Sens extra cap if Thomson/JBD had his spot. Chychrun was very necessary though but unfortunately Dorion inexplicably went after DeBrincat first when the assets should have been spent on Chychrunl, then go from there

Anyway, I could spend all day explaining why Dorion is an awful GM but just this should be enough to prove that he has no idea about players' values and that he can be talked into about anything :

- I know you're rebuilding but Gustavsson is not that good, I'll give you 35 y/o UFA-to-be Cam Talbot for him

- I know about the urban legend that are "cap dumps" but you need Derek Stepan and his relatively cheap 6.5 AAV, give me a 2nd round pick

- You don't want to trade Mike Hoffman to an Eastern team? Ok I'll give you Mikkel Boedker who is still in his prime and a 6th round pick. Give me Mike and a 5th, ok? (Then SJ flips him to the Panthers with a 7th for a 2nd, a 4th and a 5th)

You're thinking of fantasy hockey waivers. Anaheim has first pick of all waivers until Nov 1 when it switches to inverse standings for this season.

Ha. I don't know anything about fantasy hockey. So that's not it. Maybe there's a difference between off season waivers and in season waivers? The Nov 1 date is the date that the waiver order goes from last seasons standings to this seasons standings.

It's been a common misconception on here that you move to the "back of the pack" when you claim someone. I know it's how fantasy hockey works but there's nothing in the NHL rules about "loosing" your spot if you claim.
