Gibson hasn’t been good since 2019. There’s no good goalies available.

One goalie could also put them out of playoffs.

Gibson has had a terrible D for years now. Try to imagine him with the Sabres D, He's still young enough and solid enough to be a difference maker.
Buffalo has the other pieces so it would be worth the chance

Yep, the ones they currently have. No confidence built during PS so make a move or risk missing playoffs again

Sabres defense isn’t good either. He wouldn’t get much support.

If the Sabres are gonna move a first, it'll be for hellebuyck. Nobody is giving up a first for Gibson.

Anaheim has arguably the worst D in the league. Buffalo is so much better, not even close. Dahlin is a possible Norris contender. Sure it's still a young and developing D but far beyond what Anaheim has in front of Gibson

I'm sure it will take more than a first for Hellebuyck plus it's rumored he wants an extension in the $9M+ range. It may be worth it but the price will be a lot more than Gibson.

I can see the Sabres doing a protected first for hellebuyck as a rental, but an extension isn't happening. I can see like a 4-5 year extension, but he wouldn't be signing anything like that until he had a chance to hit the market, which still means we would be getting him as a rental. Prices are lower.

With the lack of Goalies available I get the feeling the Jets will get a good haul for the former Vezina winner. I think you're right about the rental part. If he were the last piece to win a cup it'd be worth it for one season but not sure they're there yet. Probably best to start the season with what they have and see what happens but I do like the Gibson possibility as I think he has the tools and just needs the team in front of him. Maybe they can get him for 2 second round picks instead of a first

Gibson has been anything but “solid enough to be a difference maker”
That’s a joke, right?

HARD PASS from the Sabres
Gibson just isn’t good, and it’s been a LONG time since he was

If the Sabres were to acquire Gibson, it would be ANA surrendering their 1st round pick. He's a bad goalie with an even worse contract.

UPL + Comrie + Levi went 31-22-5 last year. That's .578 pts% or 95pts...aka playoff record.

If one of those guys can make the next step then that's great, I just don't have any confidence in any of them.

And EVERY SABRES FAN that’s commenting here is saying the EXACT same thing about Gibson
