Detroit Season Start

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 8, 2023
Published: Oct. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Danielson gets 9 games. If he scores 6+ points in those 9 games he stays, if not he goes back to Brandon.

Claim Coghlan from waivers. I looked his play when he we in Vegas, didn't see him at all in Carolina though. I would pair him with Maatta. Maatta has the ability to make his partners better and they could be a good depth pairing.

I would pair Chiarot with Petry, they should have some chemistry from playing in Montreal together.

Holl and Gost spike be a decent pairing as well. Holl as a shut down guy mixed with the pick moving and offensive abilities of Gost.

I tried to spread skill and physicality throughout the 4 lines. I would try to consistently run 4 lines, I think that was a big reason Vegas had so much success.

Call ZAR back up as the extra forward when/ if Danielson returns to junior.

I would play Perron instead of Raymond on the top line for most of the season to increase his trade value for the deadline.

Yzerman elects to trade for a 35 year old Petry and sign Holl to one of the worst contracts of the offseason.

Why are we trusting his plan?

Bergy to GR? I didn't see that coming. 🤔

We'll take him in SJ if you don't want him. 🙂

He's still exempt from waivers. Aston-Reese was waived today but cannot be sent to GR until he clears tomorrow, when that happens Berggren will be recalled. It's just a paper move.

Well when Detroit ends up with a top 5 pick it will all make sense. Detroit wasn't going to make the playoffs this season any ways. Signing old past their prime players that are little more than place holders. Our 1st pair will be good but we won't win a lot of games with the rest of that defense. Berggren getting sent back to the minors was surprise but in Grand Rapids with the rest of the prospects I see a Calder Cup in their future. Then a good chunk of them will be on the roster next season. This rebuild hasn't gone as smooth as expected but Yzerman hasn't strayed from his original plan he has just stretched out the time line a bit.

Don’t be surprised if Berggren is up before game 1

Petry @ $2,343,750 is actually a bargain and he has some gas left in the tank. Now I'd like to think if Yzerman knew he'd be able to get Petry with that cap hit for a 4th rd pick and a 4th pair dman he'd never would've signed Holl. Plus Petry being able finish his career in Detroit makes a lot of people happy. Including his dad Dan Petry who won a World Series with the Tigers in 1984 and is currently a studio analyst for the Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit. Plus the Tigers and the Wings are both owned by the ilitch family.

Me when two RD block a LD from cracking the roster.
Really it's Gostisbehere and Maatta, who should both be gone by the TDL tbh.

    I'm really at a fork here;

Either I continue the back-and-forth troll job,

    Or

    I just laugh at you.

Just know that I was thinking of both of these options.

It's okay to criticize your gm for making bad decisions sometimes. You don't have to worship the ground he walks on. You can admit he's overrated.

It's also ok to not share your opinion. You're complaining about players that haven't even played a game yet. I dont see how you could possibly have an opinion yet on how they impact the team. It doesn't sound like you ever trusted him.

What does that even mean? Is that an argument? Petry has been good his entire career and Holl has great numbers as long as you're not stupid and put him on a first pair. So we should be fine sans Sheldon Keefe.

Holl stinks. The contract is just bad. "As long as he's not on the first pair", so signing a bottom pairing guy in a lesser role to that sort of contract is ideal? Give it one season and Wings fans will be itching to get out of that contract, just like the Chiarot signing.
Petry scores points because he can still pass the puck effectively but he can't do much else anymore. Can't skate and is bad in how own end. And he's 35..

Yzerman was looking decent as he was rebuilding but has just made some really weird and questionable decisions since. Wings fans, instead of acknowledging his shortcomings, still idolize the guy as if he's the best GM in NHL history. Cucked by the Yzerplan it seems

Hmmm yes all opinions are binary; either he's a god, or he's overrated. Wonderful insight, Ennis.

Looks like I'll be taking the laughing option.
    Lol, lmao even.

By the way, I'm not a fan of Chiarot, Holl, or Copp's contract (to an extent). But I also realize that that's not his entire legacy, and henceforth, I also consider his drafting AND his other contract signings.

Who said anything about bottom pair? Holl's contract is fine. Are we hurting for cap space? He's being paid like a 2nd pair defenseman; which he is. Again, he hasn't played a game for us yet so you have no idea how he'll perform in Detroit. Seems like Toronto managed to win quite a few games with him in the lineup, must be cause he sucks so much. Honestly the more you talk, the less I value your opinion. Kinda seems like you're trolling or you're a little to angry about another teams GM.

Holl was on the ice for 14 goals against in the playoffs last year... sure... they definitely won games lol.
