Agree. Although the goalies been bad, real problem is the defense in front of them.
And not only by the defenders, forwards got no disciple/work morale.

The Oilers right now remind me very much of what the Avs went thru in our "worst ever" season. We had so much talent it didn't make sense but no breaks and every mistake just blew up in our face. It was brutal.

The GM stayed with the newly hired coach; trimmed out the selfish superstar with bad attitude (Matt Duchene) and finally broke thru into perennial elite team over the next few seasons.

Interestingly enough, Calvin Pickard was our backup goalie!


Will Edmonton be so fortunate to get their own Cale Makar?

of the realistic options for the Oilers he has played the best, IMO.

The other team has to be able to take Jack Campbell back. This pretty much rules out any contender.
The goalie going to the Oilers has to be at or under his cap hit. This thins out many teams that have goalies on the market like John Gibson, Grubauer, Binnington, Merzlinkins, Markstrom. (of course they can give up more roster players/salary but that just means more players off their team and another hole to fill).

The other goalie has to be good enough to pair with Skinner for regular duty.

This leaves:
MacKenzie Blackwood
Karel Vejmelka
Petr Mrazek (M-NTC)
James Reimer (M-NTC)
Maybe Filip Gustavsson if Minnesota wants to go with Wallstedt/Fleury or even Fleury if he wants to waive his full NMC

Darryl Sutter under a 1 year contract with Woodcroft stepping down to A-HC and "HC in waiting". The Oilers need a big time kick in the pants.

Maybe the threat of Sutter would be enough to scare them straight.

Switch the Oilers and the Condors. Like, put the Condors in the NHL and the Oilers in the AHL. Lets see what happens.

You can’t fire Woodcroft. Holland has to go man.
Woodcroft will immediately get a job. Holland wont. That’s how you know what’s the right move.
