As a Habs fan, Montreal says no to each trade IMHO.

MTL doesn't need to be making a bunch of trades, especially not acquiring every young C that isn't locked yet. What they need is time to develop more and start building chemistry together, then their needs will be more apparent. That being said if MTL has the opportunity to acquire Pettersson, I guess why not but they shouldn't trade Suzuki to make it happen, he's locked and would make a good 2C, not to mention that's too big of a package for them to be acquiring Pettersson.

Dach is better and any trade would have to include one of then and at least 2 1st rounders

Dach is on a sweet contract for now, but if he really is better than Suzuki, then you're probably looking at 9M-10M for his next contract. So, at least 21M would be spent on C between him and Pettersson. With Suzuki, it would be just under 20M. That extra 1 to 2M could make a difference. You would have a 2-year window to take advantage of Dach's low cap hit, but who knows if the Habs will even be true contenders.

In terms of the cost of acquisition, the price is too steep, at that point you just look at what you can add with the two 1sts. If Pettersson could have been signed for like 10Mx8 then it could be worth it but for just 6-years or even 8 at 12m, it's going to be difficult to build around that without giving up so much draft capital.

I think if Washington is offered this trade, they accept. Mantha has these moments where you can see the sheer talent, but has SO many games where he's just not interested

Tampa Bay declines. If they wanted to add another goalie, they would have made a move by now. Seems like they are going to ride it out with the goalies they have.

I'm not sure that a "defensively responsible RW" is the way I would describe Mantha...

Dach is much better than Suzuki 5v5. Suzuki only has those point totals because of Caufield

hes low event kind of guy. Exactly what a Caufield line could use. Seems invisible but if you really paid attention to only him, youd see the little things he does very well defensively

Theyll see after 10 games at how bad their goaltending is and see they might want an actual nhl caliber one

Dach is a 2c, Suzuki is a 1Bc. W/o Slaf and Newhook, we wouldn’t talk that much about him

And it’s exactly the reason why Dach is worse. He isn’t really good defensively and create less chances than Suzuki

He does both better than Suzuki and the analytics prove it

Suzuki

xGA/60: -0.192

Dach
xGF/60: 0.162
