And Sharks aren't using their last retention spot for a goaltender and no picks

Swayman makes sense for sharks, but would u rather move ullmark? Or trade for Monahan instead like I suggested

that’s a lot to give up! 16 mil retained plus losing our Captain and 2nd best player and yes we badly need a goalie but I’m not 100% sold Boston would ever consider and I’m not sure sharks do either.

A move for Hanifin clogs the pipeline for Lohrei.

    It isn't worth it.

    Poitras is not a 4C....

Just promote Bussi instead of "trying" to claim Martin Jones.

Sharks laugh at this horrible offer. Thats unprecedented retention. Why do you think Grier spent most of his summer on Karlsson…to keep the retention as low as possible and not to turn around and retain unprecedented salary on the captain. Add Lysell and 3 1sts to be serious.

It's literally every year until his contract expires in 3 years AFTER this year. Which is the same length as Karlssons, and Burns still has one more year after this. So they would have none this year and next, and only one for two years after that.

And goaltenders are too volatile to pay a lot for. We know Swayman is good in Boston's system but may be awful on another team that's not extremely discipline like Boston.

look at Markstrom, Murray, Campbell, Merzlikins, etc.. Goaltenders can fall off very fast

I feel like it would be better to move Ullmark, but I also don't think the Sharks are willing to give them Couture, especially for 4m retained.

No chance the Sharks do that. Couture at $4m is worth a ton, even more considering how valuable cap space is.

Neither of the big trades make sense to me.

Sharks can use Swayman, but they are not going to over-extend themselves for him while in the midst of a rebuild. As others mentioned, the Bruins would be far more likely to trade Ullmark, but the Sharks are not a good candidate trade partner for that. Lastly, Couture is not the C that the Bruins are looking for, because realistically their next contention window is not open yet, and he will likely be over 35 before that changes.

Bruins don't need more high end LD. They do need top 6 F and high end picks. Lysell is one of the few prospects that they have which can fit that role, and that 2025 1st is their only pick in the first two rounds for the foreseeable future.

The Bruins aren’t trading a young player with Swayman’s potential for a 34 year old with 4 years left on his contract. I don’t give a crap what San Jose is retaining and I like Couture as a player. It may be historical, but so is 4 years, $32 m left for a player through his 38th birthday. How much do you think he gets on the open market if he were a free agent?

The likelihood old players regress is pretty high and if you don’t have the history with the player, it’s really not a risk you want to take.

The Bruins are going to have the cap room to sign a pretty significant player. I don’t want to give that up for Couture. I’d rather deal with the current depth chart than lose that option.

The Bruins need to allocate money to forwards. Not another left defenseman when they have a very good prospect in Lohrei to fill the 2nd LHD.

I absolutely hate the concept of spending the free agent money for Hanifan’s contract.

I'd rather move Ullmark and I wouldn't want Monahan. I'm fine with the Bruins center group right now. Zacha is a legit top 6 center. Poitras has looked good every game he's play so far since pre-season. I wouldn't be shocked to see him and Coyle flip spots eventually. That would be Coyle back into a 3C role which is where he excels.

I wouldn't either if I was SJ. Maybe for a year, but not 3.5 years.
