Honestly I would prefer to have Petry right now. Going to need veteran partners for Edvinsson and Willander or whoever else could be coming up eventually.

He and his dad have made a big deal about finally being able to play in his home town. He also chose to take his dad's old number. He could waive but I doubt it especially this season. If he were to waive the 2025 TDL makes more sense. I honestly think picking up Maatta at the TDL would be a good move for the Leafs. Last season he did make Hronek look like a defenseman and 6 goals and 23 points isn't bad for a defensive defenseman. Maatta with 50% retention $1.5M and he brings 2 cups worth of experience to Toronto.

I doubt Yzerman wants to trade two LD at the deadline. Ghost is sure to be traded and if we trade Määttä as well then we will have to finish the season with two rookies on the left side and that's not likely to happen.

Rafferty and MacIsaac when you're selling at the TDL it's not like winning is a priority.
