Why in the world would the Sabres trade their 2c that's locked up for 7 years on a good contract?

I really like Cozens, but that 1st has a much better chance of being top 2 then I originally though

Ever heard of Owen Beck? Or the fact we were going to be last anyway so why are we all panicking now for no reason? Dach injury changes nothing.

Thats kinda bad management. First off, I will start by saying that MTL never does that. But it you get Celebrini, you could trade him right away for a much better player than Cozens

Tbf its changes a lot of things. I don’t think we would’ve been this bad, but 1st full game without Dach and we are terrible

Or you stay the course and don't trade one of your top players for futures when you're trying to make the playoffs?

I think McBain is a more logical target. Basically older not injury prone Dach

Considering the size limitations in the top 9 and lack of two way play, why not enquire about Couturier who could be had for far less.

Scary long contract, but perfect player for MTL at 2C, and wouldn;t cost half that offer.

1.) There's no guarantee. Cozens is leaps and bounds better than dach, so if anything it makes Montreal better.

2.) We are done rebuilding. We've locked up our core and are trying to win. Cozens is a huge part of that

Habs shouldn’t be buying yet. But if they were, Cozens ought not be the target. He is part of Sabres young core that will formidable division rivals for years. Their price would be astronomical and to meet it, it would set MTL’s rebuild back a couple of years..and their loss would be compounded by Buffalo’s gain.

Go get a Jason Dickinson type to hold you over until 2024 if you need a center. Others maybe…JG Pageau, Granlund, or even, Pinto, if you do need multi-year option. Won’t cost the future.

I would just roll with Suzuki-Newhook-Monahan-Evans and get to next year. Maybe call up a guy if they sell Monahan.

Okay, it does change things. Ultimately there's a high probability players are going to drop like flies again, I thought we'd get a little farther into the season before losing core pieces but here we are already.

MSL will make a shakeup and things will improve. We need to also have faith in our coaching and player development staff. We made huge changes there for the better in the last few years too, they're being put to the test. We're going to need them to be elite going forward if we're going to perennially ice a contending hockey club.
