He won't sign in Detroit, The media blew that way out of proportion.

Maybe not long term but this year he's just looking for a one-year deal and a chance to win the Cup, so if Detroit is doing great in the standings, who knows? They can offer him more money on a 1-year deal than most teams, they are an original 6 team if he cares about that. You might think the media blew the DeBrincat connection out of proportion but I think it's more like the cherry on top of what Detroit has to offer (as long as they are doing well). I don't think he would mind having the opportunity to play again with DeBrincat since he was pretty upset when he was moved. Kane has expressed that he has an interest in playing for the Rangers again so they probably are his number 1, but if that doesn't work out, I think Detroit has a pretty good chance. I think I read somewhere that his plan was to test FA again next year, but I think signing in Detroit gives him the potential to find a long-term home. The Rangers probably won't be able to re-sign him next year even if they manage to sign him this year.

Detroit does have the cap space. I wouldn't say they're the favorites. But I wouldn't write them off either.

Cat is only good with Kane. LOL

I think we can put that myth to bed.

The trade is light. Fabbri is a fine piece but he would mostly be salary taken back. The trade would have to include one of Det better prospects on top of the 1st.

Even then, it is predicated on the Pens dropping off, which is unlikely.

It would be a mistake to sign Kaner imo. I'm a huge fan of his, but roster construction is a big deal to me. You'd be asking Lucas Raymond to be playing a more defensive role and I'm not 100% sure that's the right move for his long term development...and not sure that's the best move for this team right now.

Debrincat is criminally underrated because he wasn't a good fit in OTT.

no, you'd have to make it a 1st and a top prospect, not Fabbri who will be 28 before the end of the season.

Seravalli's recent report listed Detroit as one of the places in the mix for Kane. I'm not going to hold my breath I just think it's a good fit for sheltering and mentoring Raymond, as well as improving the teams offense. I think Detroit is arguably a better team than Buffalo this year if they added Kane. But I also don't think Buffalo is making the playoffs to begin with so take that with a grain of salt

It's been 4! They already won 3.65% of the season! Start planning the parade because the Yzerplan is going strong!

The Yzerplan is going just fine without Kane. We don't need to get to the playoffs and then have to go with a 20 man roster. Plus I think the Lions will win a Super Bowl before Toronto wins another Cup.

I don't they got off to a slow start but they have a team that can easily recover from that and I think they will finish in the top 3 of the division. Kane has 3 cups Buffalo his home town team could benefit from his presence the most. I think going back to Chicago would be more likely than him going to Detroit.

Are you saying Buffalo will finish top 3? Levi would have to stand on his head to do that and he looked pretty rough in the first 2 games.

You’re not getting a top prospect plus a first for a pending UFA rental. You might get a a B level prospect added but you aren’t getting a danielson edvinsson or kasper for him

The Yzerplan is going just fine, and getting good players has always been part of the plan whenever it made sense to him. Kane is a good player, and should only increase their chances of making the playoffs -which is the goal- and winning. I would agree that they probably don't do it if it requires having a 20-man roster, but I don't think that signing Kane for this year automatically entails that they run a 20-man roster. If they weren't in the position to make the playoffs, then they obviously wouldn't sign him not that Kane wouldn't even consider them anyway in that case.

then I wouldn't bother if I'm the pens. Fabbri doesn't make any sense. If they move Jake it's an indication that the team is moving to a more full rebuild.
