As has been the case since the trade rumors started, the Jackets are trying to move out a defensemen to make more space in their defensive lineup. They're not going to take one back and especially not a more expensive one.

They don’t need a replacement for Peeke, which is what you’re being told. They’re sitting two defensemen in the press box every night as it is.

Didn't know, no. It doesn't matter though since Peeke is currently the 8th defenseman in the lineup so they're not trying to find a replacement for him. They want to completely remove a defenseman from the lineup like I said.

You also missed Brodie he is garbage this year. I would take any defense over Brodie , Klingberg and McCabe at this point.

McCabe has in fact been bad this season and was terrible in the playoffs last year as well. Brodie is good still but if you can upgrade him to a more physical but equally as good defensively player that would help us. Nothing here helps though. As Columbus fans have said, he's the 8th defenceman on a much worse team. He isn't an NHL player. He's Benoit and he's trash. Zadorov is huge and mean so that has some value come playoff time though.

To be fair, the Jackets have a better defensive group than the Leafs. Their 8th defensemen might be a bottom pair guy for the Leafs.

leafs don’t do any of these like they just paid a 1st+ for mccabe last year so why are we trading him for a guy that’s worth a 3rd max and then adding a 4th makes no sense

Dubas overpaid on McCabe. No other team was going to give up a 1st for him, that's another reason why Dubas was fired
