ROR has actually been pretty good so far. I doubt Nash will just hand him over for free

It’s not a trade, it’s revisionist history. OP’s suggesting that the Pens should have signed ROR over Eller.

A fair amount of the acquisition of Carlsson was unloading enough contract space to bring Karlsson in. Arizona wouldn't have taken on that bad cap, so the acquisition cost likely would have been higher, or you would have had to keep some of the cap going out.

Pens wouldnt have traded for Granlund at the deadline so it would have been Rutta plus the picks for Chychrun-- and PIT probably still does the same Petry deal this offseason.

Should give the Avs or Sharks back LBC 83. Guy should have only played for 2 teams. Gonna hurt his legacy... /s

Chychrun likely gets Pittsburgh into the playoffs, which is the exact opposite of what Arizona wanted and why they traded him to Ottawa. You can’t just simply say you would’ve traded the Karlsson pieces because it wasn’t what we were looking for, and why you didn’t get him in the first place

    1st (12th OA) + 2nd + 2nd

Since the Pens had the 14th OA, it works technically

Chychrun went for 12th, and 2 2nds. You’re assuming the pens stay at 14th, which is unlikely, chychrun likely gets them a point and into the playoffs, devaluing the pick. In the trade press conference Bill Armstrong specifically mentioned feeling like Ottawa was the best opportunity for a high pick instead of a pick in the 20s in 23 and 24. You’re looking at this as if chychrun wouldn’t have impacted Pittsburgh, and their draft pick, he would’ve. That’s why it didn’t happen
