Desperate times may call for desperate measures, but with four teams involved, four sets of the world's smartest people are likely to come after you with half-sentence insult-critiques.

I will just wonder whether the Sharks would want to give up a player for Campbell, since he is so inconsistent, and might only be willing to accept all his cap space for the 1st, rather than lose a D man. I can see why new blood on the blue line might be necessary, but not sure they can get anything for Campbell...

It’s only 2 drafts away. Buy out Campbell next year and you got a 1st for KB and a bit of retention from buy out.

I think the Oilers would have a better chance in playoffs if the other teams accepted these trades. IMO

So you think trading away one of the greatest nhl playoff performers the nhl has ever seen is the answer ?

That means 6 years of a cap hit plus the owner shelling out millions for 1 1st in 2 drafts! (Fine a year and 2/3)

This may get us a first but 3 years of sloppy soup would be a nonstarter, at least not without additional draft capital coming our way (I'm talking of at least an additional 2nd round pick). If anything, the Sharks should further shed bad contracts to add more cap room for the youngsters, not add another awful contract to the books. Sharks say no thanks.

For a good prospect RD the 25 1st and a 24 pick I would consider, but sharks are down to 1 bad deal and a few short term ones and by 25/26 sharks should finally have their cap issues clean and ready to build back the club.

I do expect Vlasic to be bought out in the offseason though that means 4 years of him on the books vs 2 more! My hope is he retires or lands on “LTIR” but he isn’t even a replacement level player at this point. And Couture and Hertl are not bad deals IMO.

With a 3.75 mil cap hit that's not bad. Have a Campbell/Blackwood tandem next year then you can buy him out after that for a pretty cheap buyout:
- 25-26: $1.634 mil
- 26-27: $1.862 mil
- 27-28: $1.026 mil
- 28-29: $1.026 mil

I'd take a first for that

Amen. I need you in more of my threads, lol. Not like they are hitting the cap ceiling anytime soon. Ton of value in a first, a lot of these kids are making the team first year. A lot different from how it use to be.👍

The owner still has to shell out 2/3 of the remaining contract and that’s a lot for just a 1st.
I get these buy outs and retention is just cap hit for us on here but I bet money owners have issues using these options unless absolutely necessary. Owners don’t like giving away millions to a player who doesn’t even play for you. That’s why we don’t see 50% retention unless it’s the last year of a deal. And why a lot o very bad players still end up playing and don’t get bought out.

Hasso has always done what's best for the club. He spends to the cap even if we're not competitive. I mean he gave Grier the go ahead to sign like 8 guys to prove it deals last season just to see who stuck.

I think most of Griers deals didn’t need his approval. Moving Karlsson likely did.
I agree Hasso is a good owner and has deep pockets but he is also not stupid. Time will tell I guess

As a rebuilding team, he absolutely needed Hasso's approval to spend to the cap. They added Lindblom, Svech, Kunin, Benning, Sturm, Nutivaara, and I feel like I'm missing someone else but I can't remember. They also retained a massive chunk on Burns

We’re doing just fine without helping a fellow rival screw us for 3 1/2 years for a late 20’s pick.

Burroughs!
Trading Burns Meier and Karlsson obviously Hasso had some involvement but from reports Hasso is very hands off and lets the GM do his job, but I’m sure he has parameters to work from.
