This is a win-win, lose-lose trade for both teams.

For VAN >> Get rid of Garland and Myers and their bloated contracts, get 2-dmen and tons of cap space back to get a bonafide D-man.

For BUF >> Get an experienced D-man in Myers, Garland- who can play anywhere from 7th-13F, plus the 1st and 2nd to use as ammo in future trades. Garland's contract is a problem after this year, but a buyout remains, or they can ship him off to a cap basement dweller next offseason. Benson and Savoie, rightfully, go back to the WHL, while the AHL players continue to develop too.

Canucks pass very easily, we aren't moving 1st to get rid of Myers, we aren't moving a 2nd to dump Garland, no thanks on the spare pieces coming back our way, especially stillman, he was unplayable here.

Garland's contract is no where near a problem especially after this year.

Not a win for Vancouver at all. Getting 2 AHL level dmen (one of whom was already terrible for us last season), while also giving up a 1st and 2nd to dump a good player and an expiring contract

You would be getting $8.95mm in cap space. That is the real win...plus clearing up your logjam at RW.

We don’t have a huge need for cap space right now, especially if it costs what you’re proposing here

Lol no. A trade like Myres and 1st for Tanev was proposed as reasonable.

Garland plus a second for 1.5m retention from a third party gets you all kinds of returns. Boqvist or Fabbro some other decent RD option.

Why would the Canucks do this trade for trash? We're not making cap space for fun.

Garland is a fairly paid 2nd line winger (or very high end 3rd liner)

No need? Hmm. News to me.

All I hear is Garland being shopped, need for a D-man, and need for cap space. Perhaps I am misinformed.

This trade, well look, both BUF and VAN fans disapprove- which is how most trades go.

Do Bryson and Stillman solve your D woes? Nope. Can $8.9mm? Up to you. But I know that $160K cannot.

Moving Garland to acquire an RHD would be nice, but isn’t an absolute need for the Canucks. We definitely aren’t giving up a 1st + 2nd in a trade without getting a good player back

then why trade for him? because Vancouver certainly isn't giving you a 1st and 2nd to take him on.

As stated above... Because we can. 4 teams in the league have that amount of cap space. Let that sink in.

Fine if you don't want to do it. I'm just not sure why you want to pay Myers and Garland $10.95mm. But you do you.

BUF and 3 other teams can afford Garland's contract at full price. Good luck finding a better offer.

Myers contract is up after this year. It’s not an issue. Garland at 4.95M isn’t an issue either, he’s a good player

I’m not sure why you expect the Canucks to give up a 1st and 2nd without getting a premium asset back. Makes zero sense at all for them

Those defenceman aren't better than Wolanin or Hirose with so bottom pairing ahl D. I would hope our new management has learned from the OEL trade. Would make more sense to hold onto Garland (even of he is disgruntled) until the cap goes up and bury Myers on the farm then deal a first round draft pick to get out of a 1 year cap hit. Heck Myers cap hit will pretty much be used to cover the raises for Petterson and Hronek.

right but we don't need to move out 10.95, in cap space Myers is up after the year so there's really no need to move premium assets to move him, Garland at 4.95 is fine, we don't really need to move him he's an effective player, Moving Myers won't take much at TDL we can turn around and trade our first and second after we move Myers for an actual useful asset. we really have no reason to do this deal.

Okay, cool. That's not what I have been hearing.

Hearing:

Garland an extra on a long over-priced deal

Need cap space

Need a D-man

Does thus deal sting for VAN? I think so. Ot stings for BUF too.

I think it is worth considering

Vancouver doesn't need D we actually only need a RHD we aren't getting that in this trade, we only need cap space to aquire another D, there are other ways to gain capspce without moving Garland, now speaking of Garland Vancouver doesn't view him as overpaid nor have to much turm, there is no Incentive to do this deal. I think your very over optimistic on what teams would be willing to pay you for a "cap dump"

For good reason

This trade doesn’t make much sense- and the supposed reason u think the Sabres would do this trade is for the draft picks

While draft picks are typically valuable, we are already in a spot where we have so many quality prospects that we can’t even sign them all & need to start making room

And idk how this makes sense from the VAN side either??

This trade is nonsense,
and when EVERYONE- on BOTH sides- is telling u this,
maybe u should listen…..
