Calder Trophy Nominees

Description
I'm making a list of ten players who have a chance of winning the Calder Trophy for best rookie of the year. 5 of the players will be favourites from the beginning of the season who lots of people pegged could win it if Bedard doesn't. The other 5 players will be players I've noticed so far come out of nowhere and have started off great NHL careers for rookies and could have a chance at the Calder. Let me know what you guys think.

Greig really has been SO good. He's not really taking over games, but the Sens have just been overwhelming better when he's on the ice. Constantly doing the right things in all zones. Also I'm very happy he's been able to keep that talent to get under the skin of opponents. He's so good at it, but I wondered how it would translate in a bigger league

Agree or disagree, Luke Hughes is the 2023-2024 Calder Trophy Winner. I said he will be. 1, because I'm a Devils fan and I'm bias. 2, he's gonna put up points with that awesome NJ offense and play a ton of minutes. That will help edge him over Bedard when its all said and done.

Also anyone who watched the 67s last year isn't surprised about Minkyukov. He's the real deal. That Anaheim defense is gonna be among the best in the league in a few years.

Agreed. It’s good to hear that Greig is playing well. I remember watching him play for the Brandon Wheat Kings. Also, I agree about Anaheim. Anyone who saw Ollen Zellweger play for the Everett Sivertips/Kamloops Blazers shouldn’t be surprised. He was without a doubt one of the best players on those teams, and probably one of the best offensive defence men in the WHL.

Insane that they had the WHL, OHL and QMJHL Dman of the year at the same time

It’s not fair haha. I’m excited to see more competition in the pacific division, and to see Anaheim’s defence!

Keep an eye out for Leo Carlsson. There's a reason why he's second in the League in ice time among rookie forwards.

The only thing with Leo though is they're game managing him. ATM he's not playing every game so that could hurt his chances to win the Calder. He's a great player though and a great add for the Ducks.
