Means you'd have one of Matthews, Nylander, Marner, or Kane on any top 9 line helping depth scoring considerably, also allows you to run Gregor - Kampf - Jarnkrok 4th line which is pretty much as deep of a forward core you can ask for. Im concerned Kane could be the same. He wont get PP1 time and hes not a defensive guy so he cant play bottom 6. Now sure you can slide Willy down but that could also mess up all the chemistry we just built with this team

We just got 3 working lines with our 4th line looking useable now

Probs best not to touch a thing McMann and Robertson have earned their spots. But if he agrees to a league min deal than we can contemplate it especially if he does not mind rotating in and out if things dont work (VGK and Kessel)


As while Kane would be awesome to see in a Leafs jersey this could also be Thorton 2.0

Ones not a big but he is a nice player. While I doubt we see him come close to his rookie year if he can do what he did in Van next to Rielly then potentially we may just need to spend assets on 1 Dman than use the remaining on something else. Maybe a goalie, maybe another forward who knows. Same with the Bison King who may be a nice rotation piece for the 4th line

If Kane is doing a bit of a showcase and meet and greet....it'd be negligent for the leafs to not at least show up and have a conversation. Need to know, as early as possible, what he looks like, and his expectations both for salary and role. Gotta at least show interest in obtaining that info so you can make an educated decision for your team.

Having Kane would be cool but this just feels like another Thorton, Simmonds, Spezza (pretty much only full on solid one), Marleau thing. He isnt in his prime anymore and while he still is a nice forward we could see a production drop or a drop in performance that may not make him an every day player like we saw with VGK and Kessel.

With the issues of this team rn it just makes 0 sense to add him as we would be going for the score our problems away game

Why ruin whats finally working. The answer you dont. McMann has earned a 4th line spot so far and Robertson-Domi-Jarnkrok has been a nice 3rd line that incorporates playmaking, defense, and versatility putting Bertuzzi down there kills the defense.

Why do we want Willy to be demoted and losing the magic we have seen out of him so far this season.
