Not even close, Campbell’s contract takes at least 2 x 1st round picks to move.

I would suggest Campbell, Holloway and 2024 & 2025 1st round picks (top ten protected) for Mrazek and Katchouk.

Let’s be reasonable here, it’s an easy buyout and we aren’t sending a world beating goalie. Mrazek is a fine stopgap for them, and Campbell is signed as insurance for insurance to not rush the hawks goalie prospects.

A single 1st isn't enough. Campbell's buyout still costs $9m in real dollars over the 6 years plus however much of this year's salary Hawks would have to pay. Plus burning that retention slot. Plus giving the Oilers $3m in precious cap space this season. Hawks definitely get more than a single 1st to make this deal

I don't think Holland and Mrazek want a reunion.

I'd bet Davidson has zero interest in taking on any contracts that extend beyond 24-25. Right now the only non-ELC dollars they have committed past then are Murphy and Jones. All salary retentions and buyouts are sit to expire by the end of 24-25 too,

I believe it was this site itself that once put out a tweet stating that $6m in cap space carries a price tag of a 1st round pick.

So with $9m in actual $$ for a buyout plus the difference in cap hits for Campbell and a retained Mrazek as you proposed, you are at or close to $12m… that’s if the Hawks buyout Campbell. Factor in the utilization of a retention slot and the limited number of teams available to absorb Campbell’s contract and the fact that the Oilers are getting close to wasting another season of McDavid and Draisaitl in their prime and I think my counter proposal is very reasonable. The fact that Campbell hasn’t already been moved in my opinion supports the concept that the asking price to do so is steep, otherwise he would have already been traded.

Hawks would definitely be letting Oilers off light on the proposed deal. I can’t see Oilers ponying up & paying multiple firsts either. Therefore we are in the situation of adding a prospect (I guess maybe picks) to making this proposal more realistic.
Next problem is since Oilers have been in win-now-mode they haven’t been picking lots the past few years. 3 picks last year, 4 picks the year before, no 2nd rounders the two previous years to that doesn’t result in a lot of options.
I’m thinking Oilers are probably stuck with him unless they can stomach giving up a big chunk of their future.
