That's a deal from LA, Ullmark- Talbot would be an amazing tandem next season.

If Talbot keeps playing like he is, he's not going to re-sign in LA if he's not going to be the starter. The exact same thing happened to him in Minnesota when they re-signed Fleury so both guys could play as a tandem, and Talbot essentially forced them to trade him.

Canucks aren't retaining on Garland just to get a worse version of him and save less than 2 million in cap.

No to all of that. I think Lucic must have done some long term damage to you in his heyday.

I think it could be seen a few ways, the Kings system really limits shots that Talbot sees and lets him really bolster his numbers to his pre-Sens days.

Talbot signing so cheap this season indicates he is not necessarily interested in playing a starter role or wanting to get paid big bucks, I think he wants a chance at a cup, and in a familiar system he gets that option, and he likely saw we had goaltending depth so he doesn't play so many games.

However, if he is gung-ho on getting the max contract he can, he could likely get a $3M contract somewhere. Personally, I think he'd lengthen his career to only play 25-30 games under Ullmark and have a real shot of getting his first cup ring.

I think the Sharks do that. Are both of those guys projected to be middle 6 wingers?

I don't think that's true. Talbot specifically chose LA because he was told he had a chance to be the starter if he played well enough, and the Kings have followed through on that. Anywhere else he would have been a backup behind a designated starting goaltender.

"A chance at a Cup" doesn't mean much to a goaltender who sits on the bench for the entire run. It's not the same as a forward that plays 8 minutes on the 4th line. At least he gets to play.

Minnesota was looking like they were the real deal a few seasons back, and Talbot still wanted out because he didn't want to share the net with Fleury. He wasn't even going to be the backup there, just part of a 1A/1B rotation.

Sway probably gets more $, not much need for Hanafin w Lohrei in the mix but that D would be stacked

Ullmakr trade is really bad for BOS

Hertl trade is very reasonable, wonder if Sharks fans agree

VAN trade is also really bad for BOS, would rather have Geekie and the 3rd over both those guys

Would not pay a 7th for Hayes at full retention, guy is just bad

I get what you are saying, but to me there is a big difference between a goalie at 33 and at age 37. Talbot might be more willing to take on 1B role like Quick has in New York. Even Fleury couldn't realistically see himself as the starter if he reups another season. Ultimately too much for us to assume and not enough hard facts, so I can just hope Talbot is willing to reup at a low rate even if he isn't the #1. I'm not sure he's going to get a better opportunity if his goal is to play meaningful games.

I hear Edmonton desperately needs a goaltender.
