Don't see either Nylander, Knies or Liljegren coming back in this Trade, so Flames Decline

I don't think Calgary declines that.

1st + 3rd + 3rd for those two defencemen at 50% retained for the remainder of this year seems like fine value. Klingberg is on an expiring deal.

The 1st is not until 2026... I'd rather a 2024 1st instead of Minten as well

Holmberg isn't a Prospect of any interest and we have absolutely no need or want for Klingberg whatsoever... he has zero value to the Flames; in fact, they would have to pay us extra to take him off their hands

Because they don't need 3 magic beans when they already have the 21 year old top-4 D.

Because Calgary would have an additional d spot to fill from this transaction, which means they would need to free up more space if Kylington comes off IR or make moves elsewhere to put a serviceable d man in their top 6. It just makes more sense to trade them individually on d day.

Knies, Cowan and Minten are the future of the leafs in the forward group. Idk if the leafs ever make a deal with these guys involved. Knies right now is the leafs 5th best forward and is under cap control, with Cowan and Minten also ELC level when they play in the next 2 years. This is huge for the leafs to have guys that can actually play and are a low cap hit. They can then sign some UFA quality d-men.

So challenging for the Stanley Cup is not the Maple Leafs goal or priority this year 🤔 They’d rather develop players for the future, Got it!

Leafs are far from a cup contender this year. With Klingberg, Brodie, Bert and Domi off the books next season that's a lot in cap space. Minten will make the team next season and if Cowan does the ELC contracts help leave a lot of cap room to sign some good UFA d-men.

Pretty sure Brad signed Bert, Klingberg and Domi to try and get you over the jump this year. What makes you think he’ll sign anything better next off season!?

Also, good luck if you think Cowan & Minten make the Team next year and even if they do, whether they’ll make any kind of impact

Shane Wright, Slafkovsky, Cole Sillinger, Kent Johnston are all much better players and they need time to adjust to playing in the much bigger & tougher men’s league

Yeah if that’s true then the Flames absolutely take that deal.

He actually is playing like a first rounder and with physical growth this season, come next year might be a force on the 3rd line.
