we need to tank tbh

Created by: jruf

Description
at this point, i think we need to tank this year because we are just not good enough for playoffs. we are the most mid team in the league. we wont make ploffs but we would be to good to have a top 10 pick. Try to trade vets for draft picks to build a great draft capital and go from there. Get the rookies ready to play towards the end of the season. Hopefully dvorsky makes it to the show next year or sometime in the middle of the year cuz that would help out a ton.

No better way to tank than to send Binnington to EDM for Campbell halo

Islanders more mid but I agree. STL could tank and would be in a really good spot for the future

would happily take Saad but the Blues would need to probably retain more + take salary back, pens don't have the cap.

If you want to tank trading old and underperforming players isn't the right move. Those are the players you give more ice time.

These moves, they'll help get miscellaneous assets (maybe), but those players are doing more to help the tank rather than hurt it. If you want to tank, you need to attack the parts of the roster that are keeping the Blues halfway competitive. The Blues are in the middle because Binnington is putting up herculean numbers and because Buchnevich, Thomas and Kyrou are still putting up points. Assuming you're not moving Thomas and Kyrou and Binnington will exercise his clause, that leaves you with one player that would make the team significantly worse.

At some point the Blues need to have an uncomfortable conversation about whether or not it makes sense for this team long term to move Buchnevich.

Boston doesn't have the cap space. STL would need to retain and/or take money back.
