The reports of Carolina wanting to move a dman don't make sense to me really. I don't see why they would move a guy.

They got 2 prospects who can make a push

Probs will move Chatfield as they seem to like DeAngelo

Wild moved Addision as he was all offense no defense and the coach hated him. Why would they go get the same but at a higher cap hit

Makes 0 sense

They got Spurgeon, and Faber who can run a PP

Friedman mentioned DeAngelo's name specifically

Because we have 8 NHL D-Men in our system and we might be able to leverage that into more assets

Sure but the Wild would probs want no part as why bring in a more expensive guy that you already have.

Canes will probs try to move him but it will probs end up being Chatfield as that guys deal is gonna be so easy to move and probs can get more.

Cause at this point teams know what DeAngelo is and rn its more 2-way guys teams want. Maybe hes moved but after what happened in Philly teams might just go keep him

No they are more likely to move DeAngelo... he's awful defensively and we have more than enough guys who can QB a pp unit pretty well and we need somebody who can make up for defensive mistakes on that third pair and Chatfield is that kind of guy

Whose gonna take him though

Teams know his attitude Issues, hes making more than league min, and when he leaves he wont have Orlov so his stats will probs drop

And many teams already have an offensive minded Dman doing the same and making less

Unless Canes attach a sweetener I dont see it.

As now SJS got their guy they dont need one

Chatfield is easier to move and they can actually get value

I dont think Fabers game is suited to a PP1 role - hes always been highly touted for his defensive play, not for his offense. Same with Spurgeon - he has a career 3.72 PPP/60 and has never had over 14 PPP (17.7 PPP pace) in a season. Thats fine for a PP2 option but ideally you would have someone better for PP1. DeAngelo has a career 5.41 PPP/60 and has 3 seasons where hes been on pace for over 20 PPP

In general if their coach hated Addision for the fact he was a one dimensional player what makes DeAngelo any different. Theres a reason why he was shipped out despite being cheaper than 1m. Could have kept him but they didnt

DeAngelo is the same just with attitude issues and making double

Spurgeon will be on PP 1 and Faber PP2 thats probs the plan.

I think they just have too many. Pesce is coming back soon and they also have Coghlan playing down in the AHL

Fair! I just know they are a strong stanley cup contender. I wouldn't mess with that level of depth.

They also have cap space, so they can use picks and prospects to get another forward. And they are probably high up on Patty Kanes list of teams.

But I can see how a guy like Coghlan is not happy being in the AHL and they want to do right by him.

PP 1 = Spurgeon
PP2 = Faber

They also have Lambos who could make a push.

Those dont make for very competitive PP units imo

DeAngelo on PP1 and Spurgeon on PP2 would be significantly more productive

Lambos hasnt been productive in the AHL and hes only 20. That isnt going to help their PP this season, maybe in a few years

DeAngelo is the same just with attitude issues and making double the money

In the end makes no sense for Minny to go spend on what they already had

DeAngelo doesn't make sense for the Wild and I highly doubt Guerin wants to be part of any lingering off ice/locker room drama he would bring. I would rate the likelihood of DeAngelo to the Wild as 0.5/10.

Spurgeon and Faber aren't great PP players. Spurgeon has already been tried as a PPQB and it just doesn't work. Faber could potentially QB a PP someday, but he has very little to no experience doing it right now, and he's not what I would call a dynamic offensive player. The Wild are currently running 5 forwards on their top unit.

I think the attitude problems are overstated... there has been no leaks about locker room problems during his time as a Hurricanes
He's at a relatively low salary so I don't think a sweetener is needed to move him... Maybe a team that is struggling on PP could use him

I dont really think they are overstated at all guy had burner accounts, was an avid racist, got punched by a teammate in NYR, which than lead to waivers and sitting him out (didnt even play AHL). Philly than buys him out a year after trading him. Its a bad sign and in the end nobody needs a distraction

Canes are lucky he should stick with them. He either likes it there or someone is keeping him in line

I just think he's going to get squeezed out of the lineup when Pesce gets back healthy. Our coach is very good at keeping people in line... the only locker room drama during his tenure is the whole thing with Eric Haula.

So just leave him as the #6-7 and trade Chatfield.

As if they can keep him in line its a match made in heaven and Chatfield should be able to get more value

If Orlov gets comfortable enough with the system then that might be a good idea but until then keeping Chatfield around to help Orlov would be really useful
