Still no

Boston is not trading Carlo for RNH. Period. End of story

RNH full NMC and Carlo NTC problematic as well.

So a 1c, a top pairing D, a A prospect, a top 10 pick, another good first and a reliable 3c for Draisaitl. Yeah, the habs will have to pass on that

I can agree on the Roy and pick statements but Guhle isn’t a top pairing dman yet, he has the potential but still lots of room to grow for him, dach is not a 1C he’s a complimentary first line winger on a middle pack team who would be a 2nd liner on a cup contender and Dvorak has never been reliable or consistent.

I will say I wouldn’t probably do this deal as teams win by having depth not 2 stars but you definitely overrated a few assets here

Guhle looked like a top pairing Dman tonight and nights before. Dach showed he can be a 70 pts 1c, he is just injury prone. Dvorak is a fine 3c. He win faceoff and make almost no mistake defensively.

A 2 point game tonight. 1-5-6 and +9 in 10 games. He's not that far off.

Fair assessment for one of the best players in the world just not the right trade partner. Habs pass.

But dach also played a lot of minutes on caufield and Suzukis line. You tell me who’s the 3rd option there, I do like dach and think he’s a solid playmaker who has good size but I think he’s a better 2nd line player based on individual skill

Debatable points, but Guhle and Dach are part of the core group regardless.
The impact of adding Draisaitl (or anyone else) would be reduced by moving other parts of our core group to make it happen, which is why I'm not doing it.
A package involving veterans and/or non-roster elements, sure.

I mean, only one of those players is having any impact for the Habs right now. Guhle. Dach is out, Dvorak is mediocre, Roy isn't playing in the NHL, the 1sts aren't on the roster. You are getting the "second" best player in the NHL. Montreal would be stupid to turn that down especially if they believe they can resign Drai

Fair enough I just see Montreal as a team that would be in the market for another centre. Suzuki is good but having Drai and him as the 1-2 punch would be insane.

You say that like your getting some scrub. You are getting the "second" best player in the NHL. Its gonna cost a hefty fee.

I wouldn't say it would be wrong to turn it down.
If you have a plan and are a fair way down that path already, you aren't going to make progress by changing that plan every time an opportunity arises.
Finding good fits without too much deviation isn't necessarily "stupid".

Guhle and Dach are part of the plan. Roy may already be as well. Suzuki and Caufield are both signed long term already. Jury is out on Slaf, Newhook, and Reinbacher still, but they are included for now. Hutson might be considered in that "untouchable" group too.

There's nothing wrong with having a "vision" and only executing moves which help fulfill that vision. Tampa has made trade after trade, regardless of value, to fulfill their vision. You could say the same about Vegas.
Arizona meanwhile, trades almost entirely on value.
Then there are teams like Edmonton and Toronto who make more reactionary moves and always seem to be looking for answers.
