They will only have $2,627,500 next year to sign 10 players, so something will need to give. I assumed Byram was the priority over Girard.

Don’t think the Sabres are in any position to trade their best c prospect or to give another LHD a long term extension

That’s brutal for Colorado. To restate it, the Avs get:

A rental 2C in Lindholm, a rental 2nd pairing D in Zadorov, and a solid backup goalie.

The Avs give up a 2nd pairing defenseman with term (Girard), a middle 6 C (Johansen), a recent 1st (Ritchie), a future 1st, a future 2nd, a young D prospect who just made his NHL debut last night (Malinski), and a mediocre prospect who happens to be your star player’s little brother (Makar).

It’s not too late to delete this post.

LOL! No way the Avs do that. Let's just say that Vladar is worth Malinski (he isn't, he's maybe worth a mid-round pick at best, but for argument's sake) and Zadorov is worth a 1st (he isn't but I'm being generous). The Avs are giving up Girard (if we take equivalent value to the Hronek or Newhook trades, and he probably has more value than both, that's a first and a second), Makar's kid bro, a serviceable 2C in Johansen (I've seen Buffalo fans on here offer a 2nd for him and he's probably still worth that but I'll make him a third in value), last year's 1st round pick and another second for a rental in Lindholm.....because that's what he is until/unless he signs in Colorado. A first, two seconds, a third, last year's 1st round pick and another prospect, the trade of which may upset our star Dman, for a pending UFA 2C....as the Cockneys would say 'You're 'avin' a giraffe mate!'

I though Savoie was your best Centre Prospect?

He's far more likely to be a winger in the nhl

So COL is trading the equivalent of 3 1st rd picks 2 2nd rd picks (Ritchie was just picked in the 1st and the Avs aren’t excepting less for Girard than they got for Newhook), Johansen, Malinski and Taylor Makar for 2 UFA’s and an awful back up. Gee how could they ever say no?

no

Let’s correct that:
A rental 2C
A THIRD pairing dman that COL has seen plenty of
And a back up goalie that has an .858 sv% and a ZERO qs%

Somebody doesn’t look at the details. That $2.6M in cap space is full hits for Landeskog and Lehkonen, and where are you getting 10 players when they have their top 9 forwards signed, top 5 dmen and starting goalie? That’s maybe 6. Do they need to probably move someone like Girard, sure are they going to give him away hell no.

The Sabres trade sure isn’t happening

1- we aren’t giving all that up for a rental

2- LD is the part of our defense we’re all set with :
Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, R.Johnson

3- now that we gave Power big $$ (instead of a bridge),
that makes it extremely unlikely we’d even consider signing another big $$ defenseman, let alone a LH one at that

This just doesn’t make sense for us at all
NO CHANCE
