Kadri, Weegar and Backlund have contracts that force them to stay. Markstrom probably too. The owner isn’t one that wants to retain for multiple seasons

Andersson could be traded at some point next season.

half of this is bs. Lindholm-Hanifin made it clear they are open to resign and they’re working on it it’s just slow right now. Tanev we don’t know and Zadorov asked out.

Weegar just signed long term with Huberdeau. Backlund signed for 2 more years like couple weeks ago. Andersson is here to stay. Kadri will be forced to stay cuz no one would want him at 7x7. Markstrom could leave cuz they have Wolf but wouldn’t be ideal.

Plenty of teams would be willing to trade for Weegar as-is, but it’s more likely during the offseason.

Calgary is in a pickle with their team and the players wanting out. Have to think this offseason a full year down and rebuild of the office is needed. From the president through the coaching and trainers/ scouts to get the team to be a more desirable place for players almost sounds like a necessity. They got rid of Sutter and that helped but there is obviously a dysfunctional system when all your stars want out and some take less to leave!

Lindholm and hanifin aren’t signing. They all stopped negotiations because Calgary is very likely to start a rebuild

Why not just list everyone over the age of 25 in the second group?

The reality is that since BT panicked and traded our 1st to Montreal for nothing, Calgary can't fully tank next year.

I think it would be wise to open up trade discussions with Montreal to get that 1st back! Lindholm for that 1st plus another seems logical! Lindholm fits their rebuild schedule.

Correction it’s at least top 10 protected.

I wonder what it would take to get 25 first back from Montreal, attempt to stick them with term and cap would be a miracle act also, find a way to shine Huberdeau up miracle would be massive. Calgary needs a Ottawa dumpster fire, and try to be primed for new building in 4/5 seasons

Yes it is. But there is a very low chance it can be as high as 2nd overall

They already have some good pieces in Honzek, Pelletier, Zary, Coronato, Poirier and Wolf. Just need to pick up a few 1sts from trading their rentals and have a monster 2024 draft

But it pushes to the next year and Montreal gets the better of the Panthers and Calgary's pick. BT screwed us to get Kadri

Good call, hate the term they have on kadri and Huberdeau, rather large obstacles, that probably get kicked down the road or expensive dumps. I’ll stay in my lane though, still a prayer that scheifele/helly don’t go awful mode as soon as those two extensions kick in.

    Top 10
Protection, but Montreal gets the better of the 2 picks if both are outside the top 10, if both are top 10 the pick is differed to 26z

It’s top 10 protected from what I read though the conditions are crazy on this pick.

Interesting.. my guess would be more of a retool/reset than a complete rebuild

Nah they legit need a complete rebuild. The only player they probably can’t move is Huberdeau. Everyone else over 25 should be gone

Their team is still good and their prospects are not bad, I’d argue a retool is more logical with them back up to speed in 2-3 years.

Either way, It's not resolvable by the time Calgary owes MTL the pick. They are better off to get the pick back or "reset" the roster after it's resolved.

Lindholm is a 1C. Pick high in the next 2 drafts should get you another! And if not there will be a few available via FA then next 2 years!

He’s not a 1C. He’s not on Aho or Zibanejad level and that’s probably at a minimum what you’d want out of a 1C
