I would want 5 more years of Rakell, especially for the cost of Dube.

Is Forbort just moving for cap or do teams see his value as a big PK guy?

5 years of Rakell who has a really really simple buyout while the team is flush with cap space to get a prospect and a 1st round pick feels like a better move than holding onto Dube and hoping he breakout as some point or learns how to play defence. While Pittsburgh sheds cap, gets a contributor for now and the near future with some team control.

I personally like Forbort and liked his stint with the Flames, in this scenario he is a cap move to bring in an excellent 200ft forward for a stretch run.

I think Poulin is closer to retiring than being an NHLer, his AHL stats aren't where you would hope and he's dealing with his mental health. It might be better he just moves on

For that reason I wouldn't want the Flames to trade for him

That's probably too much for Tanev.

As written in an article in Sportnet, the price should be between the Luke Schenn trade and the Manson trade.

More towards the Manson trade if there is retention.

Kylington for Poulin straight up! That stinks for the kid and I hope he can bounce back wherever he plays

If I remember the Avs were pretty high on Helleson when they moves his so you could call that value maybe 2 second round picks ish?? For Manson at full pop 4.1M. Tanev you could argue is a better defender but a lesser player and at 2.25M I would hope the Flames could get similar if not better than the Manson deal. Now there's obviously the prospect of him not re-signing anywhere he goes so that could diminish value but I would hope for the really really upper end of the Manson - Schenn scale.

Yeah, Dube will likely cost more in the long run and Rakell is locked in at a pretty decent contract (especially with cap going up). It should be safe to say you can expect 50-60 pts out of him every year especially playing with either Geno or Sid. Yes he is having a very slow start to the season but I am optimistic he will pickup his play. And well I kinda prefer Rakell more then Dube as he has more size and I just generally like his style of play more.
