Garland has rescinded his trade request and Vancouver is okay with keeping him. He's a perfect fit on that third line with his two-way game. Overpaid, sure, but he's solid. If an injury happens in the Top-6, he's the first Van is moving up the lineup.

Garland needs to start racking up some points before anybody takes on that contract.

4 year term drives down the AAV + he's an RFA. He's likely in the 11-12M AAV.

For that Salary I see the Leafs keeping Nylander. One more year of cap hell then Tavares’ contract comes off the books and they have some breathing room. Nylander is turning into a superstar

Personally I would rather spend the 10.8 for Nylander on an additional top 4 D, a capable backup and some overall bottom 6 depth.

If Garland costs a 4th, Hawks probably pass.
