Description

Edmonton clear off Campbells contract. They get a 1m goalie. They get a good depth RD for under minimum cap for this year and next and they get another depth forward at league min, with team control.

Montreal get 1st, 2 x 2nds, 3rd, 1st round prospect and eat Campbells contract. Campbell can still bounce back and they will hope for the best. If he doesn't, they still get a huge haul.

Montreal also creates more room on FWD and on D for some of their prospects.

That might be a fair price but the Habs are reportedly working on a Monty extension so trading him is kinda off the table

Still not enough.

To eat campbell at full hit is bourgoult the 1st and 3rd easily. Probably more

The habs dont give up monty and kovacevic for 2 2nds. As a rd at his cap hit they can get a 2nd for kovacevic alone and they would need a 1st+ to consider moving monty.

This package is very close to fair value (even by your own metrics). It's close at least.

This is a move I would make if I were Hughes Easily.

Thats seems pretty fairish to me. i could see potential tweek but it overall seems good.

The habs currently dont have a goalie option that is less than 3 years away. Fowlers the best option but he was drafted this summer.

Theres limited options in free agency. Monty is the top save percentage for guys who will be less than 30 and have played 5 games this year. He is the best medium term option.

Finally he is a francophone which also has value especially as savard will likely be moved.

Teams would need to badly overpay to het him.

Campbell for Oilers 2024 1st and two 2nd is fine. 1st could easily be 11-20.

I'd rather have Holloway, but Bourgault for Montembeault is okay. He could come back and sign as a UFA with MTL this summer.

I wouldn't mind Kovacevic for a 3rd as a sweetener for the whole trade. Oilers need him as a cheap reliable 3RD.

I'd rather keep Ylonen, and unlike Kovacevic, i don't think EDM need him.
