Not enough returning to Edmonton in either the Columbus or Minnesota deals. The two best players on the planet at 50% retention should bankrupt a franchise.

Leafs can’t afford to do that and if they were going for a goalie they’d have to be better then samsonov

It's two playoff runs for Draisaitl, three for McDavid. Getting either at 50% is the next closest thing to having a cheat code to a Stanley Cup final: that's an unfathomable opportunity to build around those two.

Crazy how Edmonton has both and hasn't been in a Cup final yet. Maybe it's not as automatic as you think?

Are you missing the point where you're adding them to teams that already have relatively complete rosters at half-price? Imagine if you weren't being a facetious ass and considered what the Oilers could do with an extra $11M to spend on their team.

Buddy, you're trading them to the Wild (currently hold the 5th overall pick in the draft) and the Blue Jackets (currently hold the 4th overall pick in the draft). Did YOU miss that part?

If you seriously believe either of those teams remain at those spots in the standings after adding either McDavid or Draisaitl to them, I don't know what to tell you.

If you think either of those teams are "relatively complete rosters" that go from 28th and 29th in the league to the Cup finals, I don't know what to tell you.

I think the oilers risk them walking for nothing if they ask for too much, those are pretty sizeable halls already, it takes more than one guy to win

The moment Columbus finds a #1C and a goaltender, they have no reason to not be competing with the top teams in the Metropolitan. The same can be said for the Wild too.

If a roster is composed of 21 to 23 players and you're only quality two pieces away from being a legitimately good team, AND the Oilers come offering one of Connor and Leon, care to tell me if those are relatively complete rosters?

Especially the Columbus deal. They're getting a future 1C, future 1D, another potential top 10 pick this year, and another 1st next year.

Each package as-is is shy at least another first round equivalent without the Oilers retaining a cent.

A broken Jack Eichel got more than what is being offered for a fully-retained Draisaitl.

Yeah they would have a very good kick start to the future with that deal I think Adam will be a 2 way force in the future, think they'd be able play the right way with him

I'd have to disagree with that getting a #1 #1D and picks for one player Is more than most gms would be willing to pay

You keep moving goalposts, it's funny. We went from "relatively complete rosters" on the verge of making the Cup finals to "well they'll be better than 28th and 29th in the league with these two guys". Now we need either McDavid or Draisaitl AND ALSO 1-2 other quality pieces before they become "relatively complete rosters".

I can assure you though, the Wild are more than a Leon Draisaitl from contender status.

Lambos and Wallstedt haven't played an NHL game yet. I don't care what they're projected to be. What are the Oilers getting TODAY if they decide to trade Leon Draisaitl, known top 3 player in the NHL at 50% retention?

This isn't NHL23, "potential" means absolutely nothing. Jack Eichel fetched a top-six winger, a top prospect, a first, and a second round pick. You can maybe rationalize that the first three elements of that deal get you what you've offered for Draisaitl - a first and two prospects. Eichel got more, and Draisaitl comes without the injury history, is better, and comes at 45% the price of Eichel's cap hit.

You have not offered enough.

If you want to keep trolling, go for it. I have no issues with infracting you accordingly. I haven't moved the goalposts, you've just maintained a persistent intellectual dishonesty during this entire argument. Goodnight.
