Rebuild Continues

Description
Van are/were looking for a righty dman, not sure if theyd be interested in Zaitsev, but hes Russian and they love their Russians! Van should get veteran depth scoring and reward their team for their stellar play lately. Perry is the ideal Vancouver Canuck, hes a pest and a scoring threat. Apparently Nucks management want to keep Garland and would be more likely to trade Beau over him, Perry is the more productive player, with retention, and saving the nucks cap space cap space nets the Hawks a second. Hawks capitalize on a player they got for free and get a pick for the rebuild.

Lehkonen is out long term and they are looking for scoring depth. Raddysh is fantastic scoring depth, able to play PP and PK. Good for 20 goals on a trash Hawks team, this guy could reach 30 goals with the avs. Avs get a great depth scorer and Hawks get a first for the future. If you think this is unreasonable I refer you to the Jeannot trade not to mention inter-division trades are usually more expensive.

Philly (or I guess more Torts) have been giving Frost the short end of the stick and scratching him most nights after a successful campaign last year, not sure why but just Torts being Torts. Philly gets some picks for their rebuild. Hawks have plenty of assets and can afford to dip into the picks jar for a promising young player.

The cost to dump Soup is a first. Higher end prospect and high/mid round pick for Mraz 50% retained. Mraz has been playing very well (with the loss to CBJ being the lone bad game of his). Skinner and Mraz would be a good 1A 1B situation, and almost anything is an improvement on Campbell. Hawks continue the rebuild with picks and a prospect as well as having some money against the cap for a couple more years, ideally when Comesso is ready to play. Edmonton improves their goal tending and saves about 3 mil in cap for them to make other moves. Not sure why the rumors had Broberg mentioned because the hawks are set on LHD for the foreseeable future.

Post started well and tapered off torwards the end… and here’s why.

What you did well
Vancouver trade seems like a good move for both sides assuming the Perry issue is something akin to “wanting to go chase a cup” and not something heinous.

Frost trade is good, but if it shouldn't include the 2nd round pick from Chicago. They aren’t playing him so a late mid-late 2nd is more appropriate. I would change it to the LAK 2nd but not a big critique.

Room for improvement:
The raddysh trade is good value, but I have doubts about Colorado sending a pick that far out. Also we need guys who can play on this roster, It won’t be good for Bedard If we dump everybody.

Edmonton deal isn’t good value for taking on Campbell also on 32 thoughts pod… Friedman said the hawks are over the idea of taking cap dump contracts. So that isn’t a price that would make them jump.

Davidson likes to “bet” on the futures of other teams, I could see Davidson ask for a later first. This team has already lost a litany of players to injuries losing Raddysh isnt going to break the team, we’re looking at another bottom 3 finish with or without him.

Hawks might not actively seek out dumps, but everyone has their price (I was trying to be reasonable but I agree its a little light). If its 2 high picks and a great prospect, dont think the Hawks can decline.

Appreciate the feedback and hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

If the basis of the trade is Perry (50% retained) for Beau, what other pieces would be fair?

A 1st for Raddysh? Kinda wild. Also wild to compare it to the Jeannot trade: an absurd trade that nobody understood at the time that looks even worse in hindsight.

Look at the contract history of Perry and take a guess of his value at $2m.

2 million dollar player averaging less than 15 min a night on pace for 45 points, I'm guessing his value is pretty good.

How about a better comparison: Arturri Lehkonen. At the time he had averaged around 30 points with the canadiens for 6 seasons, had never hit 20 goals until playing for the Avs. Avs traded Justin Barron (first round pick) and a second to get him. Arguably youre paying less for Raddysh. But what do you think is a reasonable price for Raddysh?

Lol, that's what happens when you put a bottom winger on pp1. Teams can see that.

Among forwards in the NHL with at least 100mins, he's 140th in points per 60 at 5v5. Also known as below-the-average scoring of a bottom-line forward.

I way rather have Beau, than Perry. The only reason to even consider that trade straight up for the Canucks if they need space.

Chicago overpaid Perry to convince him to give up competing for a cup and play with Bedard. 50% retention is just to get him to a neutral value at best.

There's a reason he signed with Montreal 3 years ago for 850k. He probably took a discount to play with Tampa for the last 2 years at 1m per year, but it wasn't more than a 50% discount.

lol he has 1 ppg and 1 ppa, even if we take those away hes on pace for 36 points which is STILL more than Beauvilliers 33 (and thats letting Beauvillier keep his ppg and ppa btw).
