For me its clear what Toronto and Calgary gain from the trades but not so much the Rangers. I think Toronto can take the 3rds out and NYR take out Kreider and add in maybe Kakko or some other guy.

Of course he is a perimeter player he is a small forward. It's the leafs that have for yrs not surrounded him with guys that have the grit to go to the dirty areas. Knies is doing that right now but Marner and Matthews game is off. Bert gives the same element as knies for the 2nd/1st line. Willie and Matthews are perimeter players and opportunists and they out weigh Marner by at least 15-20 pounds. JT is the only player of the big 4 that will go to the dirty area every shift.
