I'm sure if Bear doesn't return to Van then they'd be looking for a move like this but they'd have to include some money going back like Beauvillier or Garland. Maybe a lesser pick (like a 5th) could go plus Beau retained and Caps could send Beau on his way in a double retention move for another pick.

If thats all you're getting for Dowd/Milano/Lindgren/TVR I would rather keep all four of them

Vancouver declines. There will be better UFA options this off season.

Take Milano and Bourgault out as Milano would be of zero interest to EDM and I think it's within range (though Dowd is the one that's worth the 2nd, not Lindgren).

Caps can get more for both trades.

Hard pass on the Lindholm signing. He will not live up to that deal. He's a fine 2C, nothing more.

Gus deal is fine but Caps need room for the kids to play.

I do agree both likely could fetch a 2nd imo

I think Lindgren fetching a 2nd is wishful thinking. Goalies don't return much in a trade and especially not 30-year old career backups. He's having a good start to the season but that doesn't erase his career trajectory up to this point. Unless he goes another 25+ games of while w maintaining his current performance, I think you'd be lucky to get a 4th out of him.

I expect that Tanev would sign in Vancouver for under $3M. Some others that should cost $3M or less would be Bear, Carrier, Demelo, Desharnais, Lyubushkin, Miller, Roy, Schultz, Stetcher, Walker and Zaitsev. There's 12 for you and those are just the RD that shoot right handed.

Most of those aren't better options in the sense that they'd be better than TVR. If you mean a better balance between cost & ability, then there's a stronger case but there's no world in which Zaitsev or Desharnais would be a better option & no chance Roy and Demelo sign for around 3mil. Walker may even be playing himself into a higher pay category.

He asked for 1, I gave him 12. Zaitsev and Desharnais may not be as good but would cost significantly less. Maybe Roy gets more than $3M but I don't see Demelo or Walker getting more if they want to sign with a contender. I also think TVR is on the decline skill wise and has 2 more years left @ $3M.
