That Raymond trade is quite lopsided. Like by a lot. Probably not in the cards to trade for Raymond without a major asset going back the other way, which would be counter productive for the cbj.

I like Damon Severson. But he doesn't get you Byfield.

And that's even before considering that LA has zero need for right-handed defenseman, seeing as even after trading away three in the offseason (Walker, Durzi and Grans), they still don't have the room for their blue-chip prospect Brandt Clarke. Doughty, Roy, and Spence are all extremely good RD right now. No need for Severson at all.

Kings decline.

I love this comment however this is based in next years off season where a good bit of your defense is in FA while i think you will resign a lot of them i still feel like severson would fit as he can also being a LD if needed. i got rid of the trade anyway

That's fair. I did miss the 2024-25 year.

I still think most of my comment holds true though. The fact of the matter is Severson doesn't net Byfield. THEN you get to the RD of the Kings. Three of Doughty, Roy, Spence and Clarke will be playing for LA next year. Not sure which yet, which is a fair point made by you. Still doesn't leave much room for Severson.

As far as him playing on the left, unless we want him for 3rd pairing, he wouldn't fit there either. Anderson and Gavrikov have those slots taken up.

First of all, Canes pass. Secondly, even if the Canes, or frankly any team for that matter, wanted a RHD, why would they go after Gubranson? He sucks, and is on a particularly bad deal. You are probably looking at around a 1st alone just to move the contract.

You don’t seem to grasp that you have to properly pay for other teams to take your cap dumps. I highly doubt any team even considers taking on Gudbranson without at the bare bones minimum, a 2nd round pick. And with his contract, you are likely closer to 1st round pick territory. No team is going to take him with a 7th, and give up a 7th as well.

As for the Canes, they already have enough NHL RHD. They aren’t going to pay someone already overpaid, just to sit in the press box. They already have TDA for that purpose.
