Description
The season is over and it's time to make sure the top young guys are playing major minutes. The young players get the opportunity to learn and develop. That doesn't mean Jenner and JG can't as well so they are in the top 6, but for good reason.

The Fantili Voronkov and Marchenko line is pretty solid but JG instead of Voronkov to mix in some elder statesmen. Similar approach to line two. Line 3 is looking for a repeat of Fantili Voronkov and Marchenko but this time it's Sillinger and Chinakhov. Lapierre is the wildcard here.

Bean is back but likely trade bait and Knazko getting called up later in the season. Provorov makes sense to keep around at the right price but DM is waiting in the wings.

If Marchenko can be signed to term, I think it would be wise. Similar thought on KJ but I think it's too early to go there so a year year deal with term in mind next season. A couple years for the other young guys for more time to see where the development is headed.

I was looking for a goalie but ended going the Campbell route. More picks is good now imo. A couple more years then it's time to get serious in free agency especially once Fantili and Jiricek get locked up.

Laine is moved for futures, Roslovic goes to contender (Ros > Gadjovich/Lomberg, etc). Peeke to SJ (swap excess lefty and CBJ gets the cap space) and Boqvist to Carolina (a potentially sneaky move for an underutilized, and often previously injured, player).

Many CBJ fans have told me that a deal with EDM doesn't make sense. Glad to see another perspective. Don't mind this move but Oil won't move their 24 1st. I think they'd rather move 25 1st and another asset than the 24 one. So in this trade add the 25 1st instead and maybe a 3rd or mid-level prospect.

Is Elvis better than Campbell? Enough to warrant a 1st??? I don’t think so but I could be wrong.

Honestly... IDK. And I'm definitely in the Elvis camp as compared to other Oil fans. Many of them will call me an idiot for saying it. But I believe in the player, he hasn't been the same guy since Kivlenieks's death. You get flashes here and there. Oil have to shake it up, Campbell's NHL career is done after this recent AHL stretch. I bet he comes up for two NHL games, has the first solid outing then gets shelled in his next game,

Of goalies to play 5+ games this year, Campbell's GSAx/60 is -3.8, good for 68th of 68 goalies in the league. Elvis is 32nd, with a +.039. He's a league-average goalie who had a couple of really rough seasons behind one of the worst defenses, teams, and coaches in the league. Last year's worst GSAx/60 was Cal Petersen with -1.027, and Elvis was 2nd-last with -0.996. Campbell was down there too with a -.542.

Is Elvis actually going to swing games by 4 goals on average? No. But he will probably save one more per game (or at least every other game) than Campbell will. Is it worth a 1st to get yourself the extra goal? That's a question for Edmonton. But CBJ need quality, and they need it soon. Deferring the 1st to 2025 isn't very interesting, even a protected 1st this year is better.

Dumping Campbell straight up is worth a 1st plus a middle rounder and a good prospect, but Elvis is barely better and I would say he is below leauge average with a very expensive contract, hard to justify more than a 1 for 1 trade with hopes that the players need a change of scenery. Maybe OIL add a 3rd but the 1st isn’t fitting here IMO. And I’m very neutral on this as I am not a fan of either team.

Edmonton was playing pretty poorly and CBJ continues play poorly, yet Elvis #s are pretty solid. Reminds me of Blackwood putting up .899 save % in SJ. I think Elvis only gets better in the right situation. It's tough because there aren't goalies on the market and it would put CBJ in a tough spot moving off Elvis.

You do realize that Prime Jimbo is a Canucks fan, not a Jackets fan right?
Jacket fans are somewhat evenly split between sell Elvis while you can and keep him until we have a better option, but even the ones who think we should sell think it will cost a lot more than this offer.

That soup contract is a boat anchor wraped around your neck. The cost to move that thing is going to be steep. As it should be. EDM hasn't moved soup yet because everyone they call to move it tells them what they want and Holland hasn't been willing to pay it yet.
