Imagine Jarmo Fired
That soup contract is a boat anchor wraped around your neck. The cost to move that thing is going to be steep. As it should be. EDM hasn't moved soup yet because everyone they call to move it tells them what they want and Holland hasn't been willing to pay it yet.

Maybe Oilers Best Option
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>This team has lost 5 OT/SO games, 10 of 19 losses are by one goal, only 3 of the 19 total losses are by 3+ goals, and we've blown leads in nearly every single one of those (it seems) including a 3-goal 3rd-period collapse last night. If this team had any killer instinct, consistency outside of goaltending, or ability to finish games at all we'd likely be in a playoff spot.
Regardless, we're too far out of the hunt this year to make the playoffs now, and CBJ would be dumb not to take this package. I love Elvis, but his value is probably never going to be higher and I'm not sure he's the long-term goalie anyway.</div></div>
He can't not be the long term goalie until someone shows they are close to being the long term goalie. Tarry could be but he has got to stay healthy. Jet is an NHL backup. I know people love him but it's true. Pavel is a tweener. Ivanov is something special but just signed in the K again and the best we see him is 25/26

There's no one else on that roster or in that system that the caps would trade Miro for. If you can point someone out that you think fits a Miro trade, please do. He's been fantastic in Hershey. This isn't even a shot at Columbus.</div></div>
His numbers in the K and the M playoffs were pretty meh last year.

My Cost For Soup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SwarmChair</b></div><div>They were probably after Elvis. Both goalies were bad last year about equal. Elvis looks to have recovered though so the deal became unrealistic. Oilers fans were trying to swap a 5M goalie for another 5M goalie in a change of scenery type deal. But now will have to swap with a 3M goalie instead. But best to try for the 5M goalie first.</div></div>
I love how the explanation is Elvis somehow isn't "in our timeline" shows me they watch exactly zero Jackets games. If we could learn to close out a game at all we would be in a playoff spot or close to it.

Fair. It just gets old seeing the same stupid stuff over and over. Plus if you're going dumping everyone knows the dumping ground is AZ. They literally tried to build on a closed dump.

But I’m saying the Oilers could just buy out Campbell and then go shopping for a 3M goalie and they are in exact same spot (cap wise, spending about 5M for a 1B goalie) but get to try someone else out. Not too bad of an option with Skinner as the 1A anyways.</div></div>
It's what i would do. Esp when martin becomes available again. So answer me this though WHY THE FORK do oils fans keep trying to dump soup on us.

It's just paying between 1.5 and 2.6 mill for six years when the jackets "should" be maxing thire cap space in that time frame kills it for me.

O and as for this trade. If Lindholm wants to sign here why would we pay that cost on a lost season and not just wait uptil the off season and either sign and trade for a mid round pick or just sign him to a 7 year deal.

Exactly. All the way back to 2019 his moves make sense. Jones doesn't want to come back ok lets move him out and bring back assets. PLD forces his way out ok lets get Ros and Patty for him. We're not making playoffs ok Send Nicky and Savy out for firsts. Patty needs a setup man move Cam for Jake. Bad still move Max Gus and Gavy for solid returns. Johnny 100 point hockey wants to come east Sign him up because he's johnny f'in hockey. D is trash go get two solid d men to patch that up.
All moves make sense just patty has been ouchie and Johnny went missing for the first 1/4 of the season.

I think so too because everywhere they shop him comes back with an ask thats to steep for them. Now you try to shop him again next year you might have some more luck or convince him to be "injured" like TOR did with murry and LTRI that contract.

See I like you you're using that brain in there lol. That contract is Chernobyl water its going to be so expensive to dump because of the remaining time. Your best hope is to rehab him and see if you can get a very expensive backup for next season. Look at goalie that all the oils fans here keep trying to gets numbers last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>You act as though you're competing for the playoffs, when you're at the very bottom of the league and should be looking to tank for a draft with some high end pieces at the top. Merzlikins does not fit your timeline as a starter, with Tarasov being your goalie of the future. You'd be selling high on him before he too becomes a negative asset, and would be taking advantage of your abundance of cap space for the next couple of years to gain valuable assets. You'd even be saving some money against the cap. The value is debatable, but i certainly think this is a great package. The reasons for CBJ making a trade like this should not be debatable at all.</div></div>
I don't think we are as far off it as you do. If they could figure out how to close a game AT FRICKING ALL (I'm not upset about that fact....can't you tell) They would be right in the race this year. Add another year of growth and maybe our stars SHOWING THE FORK UP (again not upset......) we should be in or bubble next year.

Columbus isn't moving elvis until Tarry is back and can prove he can stay healthy for a season. Plus I would need more to eat the can of soup. Even in a buy out that contract is outrageous.
