Going to need to swap a 5th for a 3rd if you want retention on Bush

Too much for Middleton. On a cup team, he should be slotted as a #5 dman. I like the player. I like his contract. But he is not worth a 1st and a good defensive prospect.

Definitely an overpayment, but an overpayment is what it would take right now since there's no hurry to trade him. That being said, the 1st is probably overpayment enough so Niemela could probably just be swapped for some random player to keep the number of contracts even. I'm sure other Wild fans might disagree with me and realistically I'm not sure Guerin would do that since they need Middleton now. They kind of handcuffed themselves by extending Hartman, Foligno, and Zuccarello unfortunately.

For sure. AND 15m dead cap this year and next. Extending Foligno 4 x 4 is wild to me.

It's a very common theme on CapFriendly. Leafs are suppose to overpay for middling Dmen. Now Trevling might do it but he shouldn't. But in what world does Middleton replace Giordano, at the cost of Niemela and a first?
We'll see how the defence holds up with Giordano, and Liljgren out with injuries. Benoit and Lagesson have been OK so far.

No point to trading Ilya for that return, even without retention. It's not as if the Ducks have an RhD that's ready to step up into his place.
