People forget how little rental players can get sometimes. Not saying Lindholm will go for scraps, but it's definitely more likely he's dealt for far less than his value if he doesn't have an extension in place. Myers being in this makes it unlikely, but I'd bet a 1st and a decent prospect is probably close to the final price they get unless he agrees to sign.

Yeah, fair enough. I just feel that whoever trades for Lindholm will want to extend him longterm

Ya I think that's maybe most likely, but Lindholm has all the leverage right now and assuming he's going to a contender, might want to wait for the summer to max $$$ after a potential playoff run. Kind of get the feeling that Calgary will get the best offer from a team that needs them to retain some salary this year and the extension/UFA signing will come in the summer.

I think Bo is a very solid comp. While I do think Lindholm is the better player, the counting stats put them very near each other and Bo was having his hot year, were as that was two seasons ago for Lindholm with him in the midst of one of his worst seasons.

It's funny because I bet you if you ask Calgary fans what they should have signed Lindholm for they'd say use Bo Horvat as your comp, but when it comes to trade he's worth more. You can't have it both ways.

To be fair, in Lou's own words Bo's contract was "too much and for too long". He was joking a bit, but I think it's fair to say that he probably did think it was too much, and most people would have had Horvat lower, the only reason he got 8.5M is because of his hot streak. In the off-season I think the Canucks offered him something in the 5s, fans on here were giving him 6-7M, with 7M being generous.

The Canucks shouldn't be giving up a lot just to stick center Lindholm on right wing.
Lindholm is a fine 2C, but at age 30 when his next season starts......I'd be very wary giving up top dollar and long term.
The Flames dilemma this season is, Do they trade their upcoming UFAs, and finish out of the playoffs, or do they make a playoff run with their UFAs.....and likely don't win a round anyway.

People forget that 99 percent of all trades have no extension in place. There have been maybe 5 trades in the cap era where a player has been signed and then traded

yeah this is pretty much the whole point of the AGM. lindholm is a career 60 point player with 2 seasons out of 11 where he has scored at higher than a 70 point pace. wrong side of the age curve, looking for big money, and having a miserable year in Calgary.

some team will pay decent assets for him, and it wont make them any better. praying its not the canucks
